Car stalls when I put in gear/or turn AC on..please help

Hi,

I bought a 1993 Beretta as a project car. The car turns on but will shut off when you put the car into drive or when it sits idle and you go to turn the a/c on. It is a 2.2L 4 cyl. the fuel filter has been changed..that's about it. I hope some of you can give me ideas on where I should start my troubleshooting.

I'd try a new idle air control valve, it's the big black thing on the side of the throttle body. Be sure to put some engine oil on the O ring on the new one. If you can clean out the port with some carb cleaner a paper towel(wad it up or use your finger). A few Q-tips can help get to the back. You can spray them with the carb cleaner before you put them in.
