Damn Barry, all those 5spds there? You have to remember though that the shifter assembly may bolt in but won't have brackets to attach the center console..
Re: It all goes downhill at once!
That's the easy part! I have a old style shifter in mine and it works. The center console is bolted with 4 of the 6 bolts.
I wanted a GA ebrake handle but couldn't figure out how to take it off

I look forward to the day I don't have a busted ass rigged shifter in my car.......
Re: It all goes downhill at once!
Indeed. These trannies are not smooth by any means, but they take a hell of a beating! You will love it once you have a real shifter.IsaacHayes wrote:I look forward to the day I don't have a busted ass rigged shifter in my car.......
The shifter/cable setups are the parts that make these cars feel old. But I really dont mind, its just so fun to drive.

Re: It all goes downhill at once!
Barry, have you done the Rodney Dickman stuff for yours? From what I understand it's a pretty big difference for $30. Still feels like crap compared to a T56 though...

Re: It all goes downhill at once!
I got the RD stuff for the shifter already, but no shifter to put it on. I'm probably going to get the RD stuff for the shift arms on the trans too cause my arms are loose.
Re: It all goes downhill at once!
Yeah get the ones for the trans. I have no slop front to back. The slop side to side comes from that "ball" that fits in the plastic peice of the shifter that dickman replaces and the 2 plastic bushings on the select arm.

Re: It all goes downhill at once!
The slop I have is on the select arms on the trans which is what the RD trans kit fixes. With the rigged shifter in my car, the shifter itself is tight, since it's ball/socket, but it doesn't move the right directions perfectly and the cables bind/etc so the sloppiness isn't just a little in the shift handle, it's that the damn thing won't go into gear cause you run out of travel/etc! lol I can't get it over to the left far enough, and the left is stiff, right is easy and has plenty of travel.... Over to the left and then it's near impossible to move it forward/back. center and right side is no issue moving front to back, those don't rip the duct tape off the shift cable as bad... LOL I'm still freaking out just knowing I can't drive the thing. /me goes back to house hunting. meh.

It's not so much I MISS driving it, I really haven't DROVE it at all other than to LIMP it home... Plus my housing situation is not very good so it's kind of scary that I can't get in and move it if I needed to quickly. I can't even take it to get licensed/inspected if I wanted.

I was talking to Barry... I didn't notice your last sentence.
Re: It all goes downhill at once!
Yes, and no. You still get to drive to work every day and such. I only get to ride on trains, subways, and busses. I miss driving in general! :sparta3X00-Modified wrote:I was talking to Barry... I didn't notice your last sentence.
Hell, I may have to buy a monte carlo from this girl for cheap and put LIMGs in it right on the side of the road so I can have a car down here that I wont care about people bumping into it all the time.
I seriously get all weird about not being able to drive or work on anything. I have my bike here, so I guess I can take that apart and put it back together a few times to hold me over between times of not going home for a while.

I guess it does save me gas

On another note, does anyone have expereince with Fuzion Hri tires? My dad put them on the base, and they actually handle really well.
Right now I have Contisport touring tires on the front of mine and I really dislike them. They spin like crazy, dont corner very well either. They roll alot too.
I am in need of 4 new tires and the fuzions are a great price and I was impressed as hell with them on the base.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... eModel=HRi" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Theres a set of corners that I push my car to its limits on a daily basis. I got a exit speed of 45-49 with the base, and the same with the Z. The Z is fe3, springs, kyb's, 225 tires, etc. It has almost no body roll, the base has a ton. I feel with the same tires the Z should be more capable.
Goods:
Cheap
Dry traction is very impressive
Wet traction is decent
Felt good in the snow too
Bad:
"off" brand?
Rough Ride(I dont care, my car is already so rough)
If not, does anyone know of a tire thats comperable? My driving consists of alot of hard cornering and hard acceleration out of corners and on straits. Snow performance means nothing, I have snow tires. Wet performance also means nothing, I drive like a kitty in the wet.
