2.8 t0 3100 wiring interchage

Post by jkh6868 »

Hey people, I've a query About upgrading to a 3100 engine form a 2.8L Is there any difficulties with having a complete engine harness, cpu swap. Has anyone done it or know where could view the details?. I'm a little concerned that the jump form a 88 wiring to 94+ might not match Maybe some wiring systematics would be what I'm seeking. Some help would be appreciated.

Just run the 3100 off of the 2.8 wiring and computer. That's what i'm doing with my 3400.

My 3500 runs just fine on the 3.1 computer. There is no need to swap everything over.

Engines don't know the difference. They just need spark, fuel, air and the correct timing.

http://www.3400swap.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; will get you through most of the details.

Have fun.

Thats because you messed something up somewhere and your too frustrated to sit down and find the issue, you would rather abandon it and blame it on the motor when thats complete BS since everyone else who's done the swap has a perfectly running car with the exception of a non perfect tune unless they work on that.

If at first you dont succeed,
Do it my way next time.
Just rewire the whole car as OBDII.
For more information on wire diagrams consult http://alldatadiy.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This site was more than helpful for the diagrams I needed. You will also need a buttload of patience.
Same for you Carson.

Is your car auto or 5 speed? IIRC with the auto you need to do a slight modification for the throttle cable system - right Cliff? Like what we did when we swapped my brother's old 3.1 auto GTZ to a 3100 - and Gor's car?

Thanks people. This Was a lot more Helpful than A Yahoo group I joined . Btw The car I'm working on Is a Corsica . 3 years ago. I got a white 90 GTZ. With a Quad 4 And 180K on it, Off A chum needed some coin.(I'm a Canuck EH! ; ] ) Decided I was going to restore it to properly. Not that it needed much. (a repainting, and suspension Bushings). I Was storing it till I had the cash to start repairing it . 6 months later the same chum, was going to headed out west for work, When his car bailed on him.( My god this take more typing then I expected !) Anyhow. The plan was, I would lend him The GTZ, for him to pickup his stuff out of the dead car( in northern Ontario). He would park it, When he arrived In Alberta( At his works Storage facility). After he got enough pay, he would fly me out , So I could drive it back.
Well the plan got half completed . Before he got it parked on the Company site , Some "Degrade", Stole it. And wrote it off in a High speed chase. I didn't get the insurance upgraded From PLPD.( Always seems other things take priority in short calling.) It's all just a memory now.
GTZ R.I.P.
