Windo Weld

Post by freddyf »

I had a bad water leak flooding the drivers side of my 96 Beretta and used 3M Windo Weld to seal the windshield and body seams. The fix was successful but unfortunately it was a messy job and even though I was wearing plasic gloves I got the Windo Weld on my hands and arms. I tried everything to get the Windo Weld off my skin (acetone, paint remover etc) without success. I'm a mess. Can anyone suggest what to use to clean this stuff off my skin.

A razor blade... LOL

You may just have to wait for it to rub off with the dead skin... that's some sticky crap.

Try some Mineral spirits if you have it... I know that dissolves RTV very well and it may loosen up the window weld.

A quick search on the WWW came up with LOTS of guys with the same problem! LOL!!

Lacquer thinner seems to be the best suggestion, or wait til it sets a bit and it should "ball-up" when you rub it.

vegetable oil or tea tree oil if you have it may also work, tea tree oil stinks though

I've used Wendo Weld a few times and love it. I have to 2nd what Asylum said. Lacquer thinner works very well to get rid of the chunks. Then some Goop or Orange hand cleaner to get the black stain off if there is any.Or if you can get some Scrubs that should work too.
