bstuff dying a slow death?
bstuff dying a slow death?
I am getting a no dns entry for bstuff right now and berettastuff is also down on my end, anyone else getting this? In light of the recent virus issue from the javascript injection, the ips driver errors that pop up every so often, does it seem like mike is just tossing a bandaid on it to anyone else? Thoughts on me hosting it here with bnet, it would remain in its current form unless a need arose to make a drastic change, moderators would stay the same as well.
post your thoughts, and if you can get in touch with mike, please do and let him know my offer. I can take over the domain registration also, I'd hate to see another site potentially die.

If it dies, that means there should be more activity over here. Get the ban stick out though, because there are quite a few that I'd get rid of...haha

Inevitability. Why bring it on board here? IIRC, this happens every year around this time. I think the interest in waning on his end... I say we put more concentration into this site.

Re: bstuff dying a slow death?
more for archival purposes than anything, there is some info over there that may be useful for someone.
migrating a complete site like that takes far far less time than transcribing how-to threads into an article and editing it lol
plus i already have the server so the space and bandwidth overhead is nonexistant, and I only pay $8 a year for domain names(less if registering for multiple years)

Re: bstuff dying a slow death?
I more than agree with you Geoff. The membership numbers for a car that at its newest is now 14 will slowly fade into the core group that will remain followers as the cars age into collector status. We need to focus on making the best site possible for those people so we can remain a solid group of enthusiasts.

Re: bstuff dying a slow death?
Will: True, but then you would have two separate boards under one host... I would leave the board active, but disable posting if you did get the reigns for it. There is no need to have two boards where people are posting the same crap in two spots, Its time to start consolidation and getting everything under one roof, and I think the board that started Beretta Fest itself is a good place to start.
Re: bstuff dying a slow death?
If I did pick it up in that capacity I would leave it functional for a couple months while the relevant info was migrated over and just make people aware that the borads would be merging into this one. Maybe keep the domain for the car of the month and like a mini cardomain type of site, I still have the code for the ratemyberetta site lisa and I were kicking around, kinda like hotornot lol.

Re: bstuff dying a slow death?
Hey John im gonna have to agree with you about having the two boards merge into one. Its a very good point as to people posting the same things on two boards. Yes there is a lot of people between the two sites that refuse to get along, but maybe its time to put things back into one board. My biggest thing is my project thread and what not are all over on bstuff. If there was a way to transfer all that info over to here, that would be cool. I could do it post by post, but damn, its alot of pages lol
And it does get old trying to visit a site if its just gonna keep going down, something should be done
