Well, WE'RE HERE! Let's back track a bit though and see what it took to make that happen shall we??
Ron made it to my house Sunday afternoon from Las Vegas, checked in and went to have dinner with one of his good friends who also happenss to live in Colorado. We proceeded to drink once he got back. Surprise there huh? Monday we hit the road and went to four of my local junkyards just scroungin' for whatever we could find. I managed to get the battery cover I wanted to cover up that nasty green battery in my engine bay. I scored one or two other little pieces too. Other then that? It was us walking around a bunch of busted cars in the heat. We headed home and started to clean up and mod our cars a bit.
That night, we drank. Surprised?
Tuesday was the all out cleaning and modding day. I didn't really realize how much I had to/wanted to do to the car until I really got started! I was putting coats of paint on my new body kit and bumpers, painting trim pipeces, detailing the inside of the car and more. Ron cleaned up his car as well. He managed to break the contact ring for his horn and cruise control so we had to run back to the yard to get one. No way he was goona drive over 1000 miles with no cruise control! I totally scored and my MRZ EGR delete plate came in the mail that day, the day before we left for the fest! I also got my rebuilt LED sidemarkers back from my friend, still a little wet with fresh silicone. All in all both of our cars came together nicely... Although mine cut it very close. We managed to get the side skirts and front lip back on the car at midnight. We made it to bed for a wonderful four hours of sleep and headed out to Chi-Town!
We pounded out over 14 hours of driving on Wednesday. My car has never run better! I changed the fuel filter for the first time in a long time before we left. That and the EGR delete knocked me up to 26 MPG on the way out here. Not bad for a 21 year old beast! Oddly enough, Ron had the lead as we pulled off to get gas and a hotel for the night and get this... he pulled off on the damn same exit that Dan and I did in '07 on our way to Detroit! We stayed in the same hotel! After anotther round of driving for about 4 hours we made it here!!! Pulled in the lot at about one to a few cars and people already here kickin' it. There was a warm welcome, some "Hey I haven't seen you since Detroit"s and beer. After a few hours of meet and greets, and of course beer, everyone left for the go kart track. Everyone but BMAN, Sara, Ron, Asylum and myself that is. We sat around continuing to drink and hold down the fort in the lot. We made our way over to a sports bar where Asylum is already apparently a regular and had some dinner, and more beer. At this point Ron was about to fall off of his chair and I still had not even a buzz! (living at altitude gave me the drinking advantage). Asylum was getting tired and cranky so we took the party back to the hotel lot. Eventually, the go kart crew started to roll into the lot and we continued to drink. We drank and drank and drank until I went to bed at 2:30. Ron had passed out much earlier but there were a good 20 of us in the lot doing it up. There were still a good 15+ people drinking until about 3:30 I'm told. Wow, this group can put them down!
So enough of my play by play... how about some pics??
Ah, the scenery... NOT! Flat and boring the entire drive...

First stop for gas. The station's sign next to us advertised "Best Looking Cashiers". We didn't go in to verify...

Ron, Rollin' deep.

Yeah, that is hot!

Now, where was I? Ah yes, Friday morning...
Well, many of us slept it up a bit as we did it up a bit the night before. Woke up at about 9:00 and cut downstairs for some of the freebie breakfast. Not too shabby and it was better than nothing. The middle of the day a lot of people, all of those that were not going to the drag strip, went downtown. I cant speak for what they did, but from the pics I see all over Facebook, it looks like it was fun! Something about a giant chrome bean... Anyway, those of us left at the hotel I belileve we got some lunch and then headed out to the track. Oh it was a good time at the Track! I got in 9 runs for $30 or $35, I cant remember. Most everyone there went faster then they have before, including myself! I managed to squeeze out a 16.41 at 81.64mph which is .2 faster than my times from BFest '07 in Detroit. Woot. Also, no one broke anything! Asylum's car is crazy fast and sounds like a friggin beast!! 3400-Modified's car is just silly quick and put down a 13.00X (cant remember). I ended up being the fastest car at the track, even if it was only me and Ron's totally stock engine. Took home a cool trophy for that! Headed back to the hotel for more drinking!

Me vs. Asylum

Me vs. Ron

Returning from a run.

Ron has another video of Asylum's lope, with a to die for BFest quote in it. I am hoping he will post it up as when he sent it to me it didn't come through right... hint hint Ron. I cant seem to get my copy of the film to post.
We have some film footage... but there is a long story to it ending in us maybe not getting it...

Re: Styluss' Stories and Photos from BFest.
Saturday! Time for the Car Show!! A lot of people spent a good chunk of the morning in the parking lot of the hotel cleaning, polishing and prepping for the show. We rolled over to the park at about 12:00 which was only like 5 miles away. Everybody lined up and started to kick it. I was the cook this year so I had to go man the grill. Apparently everyone had fun with the strut bars I brought to sell. I found them in the trash can, thanks Asylum! It was being refered to as "Styluss Customs Bargin Bin". It was a good laugh indeed. Meanwhile, I'm sweating my ##### balls off over at the grill. Both Pats and Will set up the grill and the coals and then Will and I cooked up a slew of hot dogs and burgers. Seriously, a ton. Jason helped us cheese'em and someones wife (never got a name) helped take the finished product over to the wolves. It was a bit nutty. I seriously think I lost 5 pounds from sweating.
After eating it was time to judge the cars. I had a very tough time choosing class winners this year and I hear from a lot of other people that they did too. The cars just keep getting cleaner and better! I got a few compliments on the cheap paint and the Euro stuff but most of them were about how clean the car is even though I destroy it on the track. I even had 3 people tell me that they were going to vote for me for "Best of BFest"! I was like, really?? I didn't end up with the one thing I wanted, which was Best Engine Bay, Kurt got it so I cant hate.

Re: Styluss' Stories and Photos from BFest.
Nobody got vid of my lope... LOL
Re: Styluss' Stories and Photos from BFest.
You weren't walking around drunk rambling on about your car.
MOAR!!
Every year at the picnic awards are given out for the track cars from the night before and for the car show. I was lucky enough to secure the Fastest Stock 2.8/3.1L V6 award! That felt good and it was nice to hear people like Jon say that I ran a respectable time of 16.41. Every year they hand out the "Tin Foil Award" to the person that cooks for the picnic and since I cooked, well... I got the award! Even though I had a ton of help from Will, Jason and others. There was no way I could have fed the masses in a timely fashion without their help! I was also lucky enough to win a nice piece of printed acrylic in the raffle. It is a 12x12 piece of clear acrylic with the BFest 2010 logo printed on it. It is a very nice addition to the spot on my office shelf with all of my AutoX, RallyX and now BFest awards!
It is tradition every year after the car show/picnic to take a group shot of all of the cars. This year was no exception, although instead of taking the picture at the picnic grounds like we normally do, we went back to the hotel as there was not enough room on the grounds for a good pic. We ended up in the large parking lot of the Turkish Embasy next to the hotel. I actually went inside to ask if we could access their roof to take our picture. They answered with "We dont even have the key to get through the roof hatch". Oh well, they were nice enough to not mind us taking over a good half of their parking lot for the pic. They got a kick out of it even, taking pictures of all of us crammed on their front steps to take our pictures. They even moved a few of their cars so we could get the best shot! I managed to land in the second row of the pic this year since I won a track award!
After the Car Show, a few of us decided to take off for downtown in a hasty manner in order to hit the Willis (sears) Tower before the night's end. We managed to make it down there and get a few good pics before we had to turn around and have the hotel shuttle get us to return home. The shuttle guy was great, picking us up well after his typical last scheduled service. The Skydeck in the tower is awesome. It's a 4 foot by 7 foot-ish area that extends out from the building mad of completely clear plexiglass. you can step out onto it and see straight down from the 103rd floor! The first step out onto the platform isn't too bad, its walking around out on the platform that you have to train your mind to be okay with. There were plenty of people there that were VERY scared of it. Hell, I was out there jumping up and down! BMAN apparently has a rather big fear of heights, but he made it out onto the platform! Even looked down and then stood there for a good minute while we tried to get a good pic of him.

EVEN MOARE!!
We have now come to the last night of the trip... Sad Face.
Per typical tradition, the Cack Shack was there in full effect, bigger and better than before! We had something like a 12x6 canopy set up in the grassy area between the hotel and the neighboring parking lots. It was perfect. We even had a cop come by at like 1:00am or something and all he did was roll up, roll the window down and say something along the lines of "Seems like all is well here". He told us to enjoy the night and drove off. Funny thing was, he pulled up right next to Cack and everyone was like "Oh no! Dont talk to Cack!". We proceeded do it and do it well. Trash cans full of Green Meanie, coolers full of imported Molson, Jager and more. BMAN kept handing me beers like he wanted to bed me. I eneded up drinking until 4:00am with everyone before I forced myself to go to bed as I had a 10+ hour drive the next day and would be getting up at 8:00ish.
Speaking of that very long, very lame drive... we were going to try to powerhouse the whole thing to my house in Colorado, about 15 - 16 hours, but Ron's car decided to die in Iowa. I think it felt that winning the Million Mile Award was the greatest piece of its 248,000 mile legacy and it just gave up. Turns out something really bad happened as now that he got the car home and had a look at it, the crank wont turn. RIP "To Hell and Back". With that little snafu, Chad pulled his precious baby off of his trailer, we put Ron's car on there and Ron drove the truck and trailer while Chad and his buddy Tyler took to the GTU. We were on the road again, but now would never make it all the way through to Colorado. It was really nice to cruise with another GTU for a few hundred miles! After staying the night in Nebraska, we finally rolled back into Colorado... HOME!!! Oh lord I'm home!!! We capped off the trip with a little ride up the mountain to Beau Jo's pizza. If you have never heard of it, it is Colorado's claim to pizza fame. Chad and crew had seen it on TV in some show where they talked about the "Challenge". 2 people have 1 hour with no bathroom breaks allowed to eat a pizza that weighs between 12 and 14 pounds. If you successfully manage to cram almost 7 pounds of pizza in your face, and so does your buddy, you get $100, 2 free t-shirts and the pizza is free. If you cant cut it, the pizza is $75.00
A very bad picture taken at 3:00am of Kurt and Cack having a dance off.

Re: Styluss' Stories and Photos from BFest.
Whats your bumpers and trim style? Looks crazy to have two right next to eachother with the only noticable difference is you've gotten rid of your rubber so you dont have the red stripe
Re: Styluss' Stories and Photos from BFest.
all three of these guys' cars were originally GT's but put on the GTU Ground Effects on both the white ones and the black one has a GTZ/Z26 kit. I think they're all the same year too now that I think about it!
I don't think Ryan took off the trim on the bumper just painted it white but the side ones are gone. Chad obviously kept his red like his original.

Re: Styluss' Stories and Photos from BFest.
Oh you are so wrong Wanako... allow me to educate.
My car was originally a Base Model. I did indeed replace the bumpers with either '92 or '94+ bumpers (I dont remember the spec) as they have color matched inserts. In fact, they're not even really inserts, more like a single piece bumper with beauty lines. I tore off the side moldings before I painted the car. It was time consuming waiting to find factory white bumpers in that model year to put on the car, but it was well worth it.
You are correct on Ron and Chad's cars though.

Re: Styluss' Stories and Photos from BFest.
Where did you find the hood vents and Euro lights for the front to me they seem to look a LOT like the lights on the camaro lights
