I was thinking those as well... MINUS Dallas... Charlotte was hot enough in 09... and crap Chicago was hot this year. I do not want to be in Dallas in June... I can only imagine what the temp could be then.NMBeretta wrote:One of these would be cool...

They don't even play baseball games during the day in the summer in Texas because it's too damn hot!

Re: Welcome back Bfesters!
I've thought about a Des Moines proposal - but in reality I think the long drive to the drag strip is a severe draw back. We're talking 2 hours at least to the nearest 1/4 mile, and just under 1 hour the an 1/8th mile that I have no interest in.
I've also considered the Quad Cities... quite a bit. Or Cedar Rapids which would be me 1st choice.

FYI, it's pretty damn hot in Kansas City too... just so everyone doesn't think it's going to be cooler there or anything

Re: Welcome back Bfesters!
I and others have made ovations and suggestions to change the date(s) but it seems it's pretty much set in stone.

Keep in mind that while you can propose anywhere if you do the follow through, there needs to be a reliable local contact, and I stress the word reliable.

This year is is why it is being brought up, and there is more to the story so lets leave it at that.

Re: Welcome back Bfesters!
You know in my area we have a great casino with new hotel that was just finished this year and is also located directly in front of the drag strip. Only downfall is there isn't much to check out other then historical landmarks(welcome to Washington State). But the track has been recently redone and the casino hotel is very nice as well just happens to be a great overall location with lots of lakes in the area and very cool summers. So far we have only had a couple days 90+ for the year and doesnt get much over 90 very often making night's at the track very nice to your car!!

And you are about 2,000+ miles from where "most" of the Members and their Berettas are.

Re: Welcome back Bfesters!
I know the major downfall of where I live is I'm up in the corner. Makes for along drive for us west coast people as well. Central states is probably where it is best for "most" of the people around here. I think we just all worry about what's going to go wrong next on the long drives.

Re: Welcome back Bfesters!
The midwest locations have always had the highest attendance numbers, it wouldn't make sense to hold the main fest in a far off corner. But that doesn't mean you can't organize a gathering yourself (we used to call them mini fests). There will be one in PA soon for those on the east coast. Keep checking the announcements section, or check interest with those that are on the west side with you. Maybe people wouldn't mind a weekend of Buds, Berettas, and Beer.
