After tossing around some thought i was going to go with a 3.1/3400 hybrid swap, but after listening to some advice and doing some reading online, i have decided to go with........

(insert drum roll here...)

...a full 3400 swap!!! I am abandoning the hybrid swap after weighing the pros and cons of each swap. I feel that the 3400 swap will be the 'easiest' and i will get the biggest bang for my buck - without going with a 3500.

So, again, stay tuned. I will be picking some peoples brains and i will be keeping my restoration thread updated as i go.

Thanks again for Chad and Ryan for being there when i broke and saving my @$$. Thanks also to those that have allowed me to pick there brains for the last week!!!

UPDATE!!!

I know it has been some time since my last post, but not having a job between Chicago and now has shelved this project. But i now have a full-time job and this is back on!!!

During the past couple of months i tossed around what to do, as you all have read, and decided to go with the 3400 swap, but i have since changed my mind. In the next couple of weeks, i am making a short trip into Cali and picking up a 3500 to replace the dead paperweight that is still residing in my Beretta.

So again...stay tuned!!!

So guess what showed in the yard right after i make my decision....

Unmolested in an 01 (IIRC) Alero. Car was immaculate - very well taken care of. I think it went into the yard after getting hit on the passenger side right at the front tire messing up the suspension. Unknown mileage due to the electronic odometer and no power. What to do...what to do!!!

buy it and keep it as a spare, and if you want to avoid the nuisances of doing a 3500 then just do a 3400 lower end and a 3500 top end. No custom pushrods are needed and the thing will run fine.
