Yes, it has a few obstructions on the bottom half that makes the neck a little smaller.

wow wish i lived in canada.

didn't give up yet, still looking, just haven't had time to get it back together, need a valve cover mine are plastic and i ended up busting the rear one to get it off.when we did the LIMG i guess my helper slipped with the wrench putting it on,and rounded the bolt,I tried everything, busted a craftsman socket that i hammered on the stripped bolt, tried Bolt-outs,vice grips,I finally just gave in and pried it off.

Heard some had metal valve covers,so maybe i will replace my plastic ones with metal ones if i could find them.

Yeah man a few of the older 3100 cars have metal ones. I can't remember what make or model they were. I have a set myself waiting to go on. I've seen a few at the JY, but they may be crushed by now.

yes the 3400 and 3100 are identical pretty much, the only big changes were the block bore, and the intake valve size by .02 or something stupid like that. And obviously the lower and upper intakes

Sorry little late to the discussion. Was thinking of swapping out a tired 2.8 for the 3.1 then contemplated the 3400sfi. What is this intake mod of which you speak for the 3.1. BTW there is some 3.1 and 3400 rebuilt engines on ebay from gopher engines that went out of business for a good price. What kind of intak swaps have you guys been doing on the 3.1???????? thanks

I desided long ago if I was going to go for it might as well be something in the 3500 range.
