no start
89 beretta 3.1 5 speed
cars been sitting a long time. 2+ years. havent driven it in almost 3. Car has GREAT fuel pressure, and great spark. CKPS is brand new. ohm'd the coils and injectors but it WILL NOT run. just cranks and cranks but no start. I'm not certain the injectors are firing but i'll find out tomorrow. what could cause it to not run when it has spark and fp? I've been trying to figure this out for MONTHS.

Re: no start
Well what all have you done in months? I mean for starters the gas is going to be basicly water. The oil is shot and theres none on top so if it does fire your going to warp your heads. After a car sits that long you need to do a lot to it before you try to fire it up.

You need to first prove that the injectors are firing before we can figure anything else out.
Fuel and spark is all you need to fire, you have fuel pressure and you've obviously pulled a plug and seen it spark... so that means you may not have any fuel spraying in the engine.
Also yes the gas is probably really bad and the oil could use a change before trying to run it. Having no oil on the top of the engine will not warp a head either... It will just cause wear to the valve train components... Heads warp from overheating them.

Re: no start
Didn't you do a 3400 swap and it wouldnt start so you decided to go back to a 3.1? And now it still wont start?

Re: no start
I always was told that without the oil being up there that there isnt any way to dispence the heat right away and that can cause warping. Also I would think that without the oil up there that the rods would be a lot easier to end up bent since they can't move without friction
Re: no start
yes 3400. i took it out cuz i wanted to rebuild the motor then wound up scrapping it. now its back to a 3.1

Any fuses blown?
Re: no start
If the injectors were firing and you crank and crank and it doesn't start, usually you'll smell gas... Check that first, even if you use the old screwdriver trick and hear the solenoid click, they could be gummed.

Re: no start
So it sounds like whatever you did for your original swap screwed something up on the harness or your missing a connection point somewhere which is causing the car to not start just like the 3400 wouldn't.
I think its time to start running through the harness and doing tests to ensure everything is connected in the right spot, and that everything that should be getting power is getting power.
