1989 base...
1989 base...
this is my 1989 Chevrolet Beretta Base. I got as my first car from my grandmother. It was OEM as gently caress and hella nice. It needed mad interior work ie door panels, headliner, carpet and a dash. I got this car when I was 15. This is what started my love/interest in cars.
Mod List
Engine
2.8 mpfi- lost oil pressure=swapped
3.1 mpfi- knocking = swapped
3400 sfi- project never ran=swapped
3.1 mpfi- new motor - scraped lol
Hella OEM
Transmission
Stock TH125C (3T40) 3 speed auto. = blew
Isuzu 5 speed swap. - swapped for auto
Interior
1989 Corsica dash swap
full gauge cluster
91+ center console
96 rear side panels
OEM Red
Exterior
Half factory "Black metallic"
Junkyard fenders
Junkyard ds door
94-96 Z26 F/R bumpers
Suspension
FE7 rear springs
stock shocks
FE1 front springs
Z51 rear sway bar
Energy front suspension bushings
Here it is before I even got it.

Needed a new battery and it fired right up first try after sitting for about 5 months.
This is the OEM interior.

If you haven't seen one of these, the 88-91 interiors are badass looking but have mad issues with the dashes cracking.
After a little clean up and what not, this is what it was looking like.

Found a few parts in the junkyard like a Z26 rear bumper and sway bar etc.

How it CURRENTLY sits.

Future Mods:
Make it run.
repaint factory black metallic
Eibach prokit
Kyb shocks
New body panels
3400/3500 hybrid -maybe lol
Redo entire interior
More to come when I get home this weekend and start tearing into it again.

Re: 1989 base...
Yes I know of the dash problem, I had a 90GT and it was the same color inside.
If you find a way to recover the speaker grills I have some old ones that are faded the same as yours to cover the speakers when yours are getting done.
Strange that painting the wheels black would make them look better.

Nice project you got going there man. Bases make such good starting points. They usually dont have many options, if any, and you can add whatever you want to them. Much easier than say taking away options like some people (looks to the sky whistling)

Sweet. We have the same chevy emblem on the window and at the same position.

Re: 1989 base...
I have those rims on my 95 base, the came from my old 90 base, they are painted red and look pretty nice. At least they used to, they're kinda faded and pink now lol. And my dad hit a curb a few years ago and destroyed 1 of em', so there is 3 redish pink rims and 1 stock silver/grey rim, but the all match and all of the centers are there. Also get trim rings for all of them and paint them chrome. I was gonna paint my rims black and throw some chrome trim rings on em', just never got around to it. I think it would look nice. I have trim rings on all of mine, they are stock silver/grey in color.
