Re: 1992 Quasar Beretta GTZ
Quads don't like to run hot. And they've never liked it. I don't know where you get they're "supposed to run hot" from. Fiction. Quads are at their STRONGEST when cold , like most cars.DTMAce wrote:Actually, most of these cars are supposed to be able to run hot... You should know this... lol
As for your gas tank.
First off, I'm guessing the reason mine was only 100 bucks from rockauto was because it was among the "more popular" version, that being for the later years. If you could upgrade to that tank, it certainly would be cheaper, as from my perspective, 100-125 for a gas tank is a hell of a lot better than what 300-400? But then again, I suppose the guts have to be changed to match, the straps were cheap so those weren't an issue, but still there has to be a way to fix that up.
Car is looking better, just need to get to the cosmetics soon now. lol
If you read earlier in the thread, you'd have seen that I noted the '91-'93 Beretta fuel tank was discontinued, thus the price on it. I have already ordered and received a new '93 tank. The o-ring/lock ring setups are different (though the same size hole) although BOTH tanks use the same pump assembly , ALSO noted in a post above. I haven't test fitted the tank itself yet at any rate, but since Beretta body's were unchanged for the most part for 8 years, I can safely assume it will fit.
The tank has been repaired via fiberglass anyhow and appears to be holding up nicely. We'll see what happens.

As usual, I'm always wrong when it comes to you, not sure why.. Oh well. My point was that many of the newer cars (those being the last 25 years or so) could withstand higher temps without damage vs older engines.. But no, not all the time of course. Whether they be 4 bangers, 6, or 8s. Sure there are a few differences between them but overall they can withstand some punishment. Half the time you guys make the quads out to be made of glass or something. They are not that fragile, but yes they have their quirks.
As for the tank, after reading through 8 or so pages about tank troubles, I may have missed a few details as it started to blur together. Just thought I would throw in a few cents was all, glad its sorted out.

ROFL @ Sparta.
So, I got my VERY NICE lower filler panel in today from Tyler aka Slinky. I also recieved my "Heartbeat of America" license plate. Brand new and sexy!
I will get installed pics as soon as I get my tinted upper filler from Ryan. I will install everything then.

I gotta buff my fillers again... They were really nice last year and I gotta keep them that way. Also would like to find a chrome letter substitute or I may just paint them silver.

Yeah, the letters are painted silver on this panel with model paint the way I understand it and it looks pretty nice.

I dont see model paint holding up well in the outdoor weather. Im thinkin of spraying some body silver into a cup and brushing it on by hand when i redo mine. Things look good Mike, get that front lip fixed! I have that bracket, when you come out, you can take a look and and you can tell me what you think

Re: 1992 Quasar Beretta GTZ
So, I got my tinted upper filler from Ryan today and went ahead and installed it, my lower tinted filler from Slinky and my shiny new "Heartbeat of America" Chevrolet plate. I need to do a MINOR adjustment on the upper (slide it to the driver's side about a 1/4 inch to get rid of a slight misalignment) and give her a bath tomorrow and then she'll be feeling photogenic again!
Pics tomorrow or Wednesday!
Overall I'm pretty damn happy! Now I just need to tint my tails and windows.
Oh, and I put a set of directionals on the old girl too. I do believe you boys and girls will dig the tires. 215/60/16's.

I ran 215/60's on 14's on my base and it looked and rode amazing.
