Bfest Planning

Post by ronaconda »

With registration now open and your planning well underway, a story on MSN about gas prices has got me smiling...if only a little bit. The story reads that "retail prices for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline will average $3.86 from April through September". Although prices in your particular area may be higher or lower, and because the news said so, this average figure may have some of you smiling as i did because the national average is about there now and gas prices shouldn't change much from where they are now and should help with your budgets - it will mine!!! :good:

Yeah well, I don't subscribe to MSN's gas price theory.

Right now, we are already at 4 bucks a gallon, hit fuelly.com and see what I recently paid, user name is dtmace. I fully expect 4.50 on the average by June/July. Guess we will see who is right. Me or MSN.

LMAO

On a side note, I may be looking for a cell mate at the hotel for 2 nights.

I don't necessarily either Chris but it seems that when the news says something about ANY prices, that seems to be the trend.

More media bullshit imho. They said a lot of things. Our gas prices here go up and down more than a $2 hooker. Right at $4 a gallon one day and $3.65 a few days later and back up again a few days later, etc......

This time last year I was paying $2.35 a gallon I think and I was pissed about THAT!

when gas hit $1 a gallon, everyone bitched but no one did anything... when it hit $2 a gallon everyone bitched but again no one did anything... when gas hit $3 a gallon everyone complained, but no one did a thing about it... and when it hit $4 a gallon... same thing... and guess what, when it hits $5 a gallon, same exact thing...

Actually it hit 4 bucks a gallon up here like 2 years ago, so this is nothing new. Will it actually hit 5? Hard to say. And what exactly CAN you do? I drive 500 miles or more a week, I more or less have to have a car. One reason why I'm driving the Z over the Caravan right now during the week.

Actually people DID and DO take action Speedy.

They stop spending as much at the grocery store. Too expensive to buy all that unnecessary food just to eat when you need to drive to work in order to do that....

They stop renting movies. Or going out to them. Unnecessary expenditure. Why? To save money for gas.

They stop eating out. Why? To save money for gas.

They stop taking their car to a mechanic. Instead trying (and usually failing) to fix it themselves. Why? To save money for gas.

They stop buying "extras" like clothes, socks, and underwear, and shoes, and belts. Why? To save money for gas.

They run their tires BALD before FINALLY breaking down to get "new" used ones. Why? Yup. To save money for gas.

I can keep going and going, but if you're really paying attention, whenever gas prices go up the WHOLE ECONOMY suffers losses. It keeps us in an ever deepening recession ( I don't give a damn WHAT Obama says, maybe where HE lives things are looking up and they can manipulate the "numbers" all they want. Real world experience and eyes will tell you the recession is getting WORSE in most areas, NOT better!) that will only get worse if prices keep rising.

What would you have us all do Speedy? One of those stupid ass emails going around to "not buy gas for two weeks and that will teach them to lower the prices". HAH! You going to pay all my bills that fall behind while I'm NOT driving to and from work everyday? Or anyone else's? Be serious.

Supply and demand. We have the demand, they have the supply. As long as that is the case, we will keep getting bent over.

Unless SOMEONE in our government pulls their head out of their ASS and opens our reserves and puts a ceiling on fuel prices like they did during the 70's gas crisis.

/end rant

My whole thing is that it could be $7 a gallon and I'm not going to stop driving... No one will.

You probably will stop driving then because you won't have a job to go to because the whole economy will crash.
Mostly you meet friends when traveling by accident, like by sitting next to them on the train, or in a restaurant, or in a holding cell.

Wow this went from planning to gas bitching...

Oh, and did anyone want to share a room? I did ask that earlier, I am pretty sure I'm going alone this time.

Nothing. I'm sorry I took your roomie. I originally planned to room with Sara when we talked about going last year. But things change, some roomies provide the lovin and others don't and you know which one wins :friends: lol

And we'll be rooming with you on the 3600 miles to and from bfest!!! :D
