Thursday night go-karting

Post by quad4berettagtz »

I want to see what you guys think about karting for thursday night... I called Fasttimes Indoor Karting (http://www.ftik.com/) and got some info and pricing for us.

If we want we can do it almost exactly like last year, which would be a private Grand Prix style event. Each of us would compete in multiple qualifying heat races, leading up to a final feature race. Awards for the top drivers in the heat race. We would be there for about 3 hours, 2 of which would be track time. Pricing on this is a flat fee - $1700 for the group. So, the more drivers involved - the cheaper it is per person. For example, if we pull in 25 drivers (about what we had last year IIRC), it would be $68 per driver. Spectators would be free...

They also have open karting, which is $20 per 8 minute race with a $2 helmet rental and $2 shoe rental.

Our date - Thursday June 23rd - is 100% open right now, so we have the pick of the litter. We already have 25 cars registered for Bfest, so we should have no problem pulling in enough people to cheapen this thing out. A potential 50% deposit would be required to fully reserve the event, so I would like to see how many people would be interested in the Grand Prix....

If you are in, copy the list below and reply with your name added. I will also update the top message to reflect the current count - including anyone who may contact me via the email list on this.

Not to downgrade the Karting, but I will head the movement again this year to hit a bar / restaurant / mill around the hotel lot for those that do not wish to attend the Karting.

I will add myself to the list, but IF we don't get enough participants (preferably 20), I might have to bow out.

I'm gonna have to forgo karting this year, which sucks because I really did have fun last year. Honestly, spectating is probably out for me too, because if I'm gonna watch it from anywhere - it'd be from the driver's seat. But, I'm not scared of defeat, therefore I am not assured of losing. ;) (we'll see who gets that one)

I'm just excited to see my friends and their cars again. :) Great group of people.

Just a heads up- if we don't get at least 20 we will not do this because of the high cost.

Oh, and you should totally do this Kurt and represent more of us autoxers!

If things are going well and $ isn't an issue - I'm in. Plus, I'm currently about 25lbs light than I was last year at the fest, with more leaving by the week. So I would definitely be faster than last year. ;)

Mark me as a maybe.

List freshly updated...

We would still need to get at least another 8-9 people involved for this to really happen. Anyone else out there interested?! This was a ton of fun last year, and I remember a lot of people going that we didn't plan for last time so please sign up if you are interested!
