Another leak problem

Post by indyyellow »

Well the 90 Indy I have has the water leak issues. Not a total drencher seeing how much rain we have had here in Cincy of late and it being out side. I know I need to see that the sunroof is draining. One that has me stumped is that well where the spare sites has water but all carpet in trunk is dry. I took it up and that rubber thing underit, when I lift it it is wet, I guess I need to pull that out and do some hose testing.
I have read many threads here are possible leaks and it looks like I need to pull the interior this summer, for now it will sit in garage to stay dry, wont be driven much in elements since it is sons car and he is still doing TEMP driving.
I HATE WATER LEAKS.

Could the water be getting through where the wiring harness goes into the firewall? Some of that goop crap is dry as a desert and cracked. I wonder if taking out all the carpet and crap and then WATERING the car to see for leaks, if you could seal them from the inside?
This car sat outside for sometime during many a rainy day and was not driven before I bought it and the carpets had some water, the trunk under the spare had water, the black deadning stuff under the trunk carpet, bottom side of black stuff was soaked yet the carpets in the trunk, all of it was bone dry, even the cardboard tire cover.

Yes alot of times the water comes in the wiring harness. All leaks should be blocked from the outside.
Check the trunk weather strip. There is also a seal around the back glass, if there is a gap under that strip water will come in. Beretta's have a small piece that goes between the top/back of the door and the seal for the back glass(there is a channel there). If it falls off and it does there will be a leak. You can fill that spot under the rear glass seal and stop the water.

I will look at those places. I know on the top of the car, back aobve the windows there is a 6 inch or so long rubber pc that goes in up there, I am missing one. Just back from a pull and pay and none of the beretta had that pc on either side.
