You think the same way I do Brandon.....

But I got to thinking and researching, I can drop a 3400 in it, without having to do very much else, maybe change the pass side mount, and adapt the EGR mount. The 3100 stuff will swap onto it piss easy and the OBD1.5 harness/ECM will run it fine without having to tune it. Keep in mind yes it would probably perform a bit better with a tune/other changes, but its not mandatory. If I was going to go to that effort, then I may as well go 3500 and get a 96/OBDII beretta or swap the entire harness/ECM to OBDII.. But for guys like us that don't need to tweak the 3400 100%, it would do fine.

So seriously, if you do end up dropping an engine in it, its not a bad upgrade. Otherwise, you can have mine when/if I swap it out. lol

3400swap is cake for a 3100 car, too. If you can swap a 3100 in, you can swap a 3400 in. And mine ran GREAT on the stock tuning. And I mean really good.

The whole reason why so many recommend a 3400 swap is you can get a 2005 3400 and it will bolt right in with the changes Ace mentioned... Put your passenger side mount bracket on the timing cover, (including cut off a old pulley boss thats in the way) Get an EGR adapter from TCE run your injectors, and then either rewire your setup for the three pin temp sensor, OR put one by the thermostat like normal, and then put the single wire one thats in the head of the 3100 in the back block drain port, no re-wire necessary, same threads too.

Edit, OH and get the huge ass NPT tap to tap the lower intake to allow you to thread in the heater core bypass line.

Or you can cut your heater line from the car and the press-in heater line from the 3400 and hose clamp them together with a short piece of rubber hose. I did that with mine in '06 and it worked perfectly for 5 years until now I welded them together this year. That way you dont have to worry about getting aluminum chips in your LIM.

But you can use an 03 or newer, correct Jon? It doesn't have to be an 05? Cause that is changing what I heard earlier... LOL

I'm simply stating that you can get something as new as 05, you can use ANY 3400... 03+ are the better ones since it was the last year of revisions for bearings and seals and such.

Well if this is the case with the 3400, maybe I'll wait until Ace does his and then have him help me with mine. :)

Someone with some mechanic knowledge how long would a 3400 swap take in hours a rough estimate I just painted whole car and have about 60 man hours without buffing it so far.

"Some mechanic knowledge"

What classifies someone that fits that.

There are people on here than can do it in 5 hours or less probably.... LOL

I know it would probably take me at least a few weekends, or something the first time. One reason B suggested I do his after I do mine.. LMAO

Hell he get me the engine for mine and SURE I would go down and help him with his!!! *hint hint
