Custom Shifters *Gauging Interest* Pricing Added
Alright, so as some of you have seen in my project thread, ive mentioned production of modified stock shifters from other cars as well as our cars for our cars and other GM small bodied cars from 96 and older L-body, and 95 and older N-body and 94 and older J-body.
What i am looking for, is seeing how many people would be interested in some kind of modified shifter for their car. I would have 3 options:
1) Stock lever shortened (pic is of a sunbird lever but you get the idea. Can mod stamped steel ones too)

2) Modifided shifter lever from another car for custom applications (this is my modified Fiero shifter)

3) Fully modified shift lever assembly for stock height shifters but with full shortened throw and selection (no mods will be needed for anything just the lever and pivot arm it slides onto. This assembly is from a 94 GA with newer style pins the 92+ N- and L-bodies all have) This would involve lowering the selector pivot, and lenthening the pivot arm and lever tail, thus, shortening the throw and selection at the knob.

Can do shifter lever only, or this weekend will be building fully modded setups. Grand AM shifter above is one i have now, as well as the one below, stock 85 Fiero (my sunbird lever next to it, not for sale, already spoken for), and the cavalier assembly thats all dusty. Will be getting that cleaned up this week to start on.

The Cavalier and sunbird shifters from 92-94 are the ones that kick the lever back toward the drivers right arm. Fiero does it to, but put it more in the corner like mine is. The Grand Am/Achieva levers put the lever dead center in the boot.
There would be a core charge depending on what setup you want to go for. I would only be able to do this kind of work on the weekends, but could churn out a couple ready to go if anyone wants one. I will have the Fiero, 93 Cavy, and 94 GA shift levers be the first to get the mods so let me know if there is any interest.

Id be interested in a Fiero arm, shortened and modified like yours. The bend in the stick definitely makes for nice positioning.

Okay cool. If you want it like mine, i will not have the bend in it that it does from the factory, but how mine is modded will still put it in the lower left corner of the boot for you. If you want it identical to mine i can do that too, if you want it a lil taller just let me know

Okay cool. If you guya are wanting a Fiero Shifter, if you can find me a core that would be awesome too as mani-tranny Fieros are hard to find around here. In order to keep things going i will need a core if you can find them
Doesnt matter if its a 4 or 5spd

Hmm... manual fieros just aren't in the yards here.
I'll start scouring the net and see what I can find. Right now I've got the sunbird arm, and while I like it - I've always liked the bent and angled towards the driver style - often found in Mustangs and newer rwd cars.

Re: Shifters Shifters Shifters *Gauging Interest*
So doing some thinkin, im lookin at prolly $20 for a chopped shifter, 30 for a modded one from another car, and 50 for what i will call the "competition shifter". Which the comp shifter will be the one that leave the knob stock height and reduces the full range of the shifter by atleast 1/2. What you guys think, am i being resonable enough for this?

Pricing definitely isn't a problem, finding a Fiero arm might be though...
When I get one, I'll be sending it to you.

Kurt does your car have the larger cushioned pins for the shifter or the older smaller non-cushioned pins? Let me know so i can get the correct pin on for you. Also, i will be working on these today so keep posted people i will be getting all the parts disassembled and ready for building
Let me know all what you want.
My first Comp Shifter will be built today and i will be testing it very thoroughly! I will post up what i get out of it

SummerBalt, do you want prefer the pontiac style screw on knob or one for an aftermarket knob? If you want it for an aftermarket knob, let me know what size threads you want. If you want it just for the pontiac screw on knobs, i can do that no biggie. I can take just about an inch out if that all you wish as well. Do you have the larger cushioned cables or the older smaller snap fit ones?

When i get the car back i will take a pic.. I got a junk manual shifter assembly and a good one and the good one is in the Z right now.. Hopefully they are both the same so i can keep a shift lever stock and have one for different knobs. I will get with you as soon as i can. thanks!
