What is this on 1990 3.1

What is this on 1990 3.1

It is on the back of the motor, sorta, sitting up being the TB on top back side. It looks like it is sitting on springs or something. Looks like a coil devise but it is not.

Mounted up behind the TB on the top backof the motor? That is huge.

Buy a 1990 service manual. Its one of the best years to buy as it has interesting information. My other fav year is 1996.
