New project in the Thinking..

Post by beretta »

My friend and i travel to work together to save on gas. most of the time anyways.

We had a brain fart today and thinking of finding a Geo metro 3 cylinder car and splitting on it and use that to get to work.

Were going to gut the whole interior except 2 seats to make it light as possible, rig up some hydrogen and try to get 80 MPG out of it. should be possible LOL. We need to find a manual one, and then shift under 2,000 rpm have hydrogen hooked up, and with all the weight reduction try to get the car down to 1,000 LBS or close i think we should be able to get some good fuel millage..

The automotive department at my college converted a Geo Metro to diesel-power. It was awesome.

We were thinking diesel but then we couldnt run hydrogen.. hook some propane up to it LOL, propane on a diesel engine apparently is like nitrous for a gas engine.

With the interior stripped from the car for less weight and some hydrogen just so we can say we have it i think would be wicked on fuel.

I found one.. dam thats cheap i spend more then that a month on gas....

My father in law has one too i totally forgot about it, if he hasnt scraped it yet, it was a 5 speed but the engine was shot i think, they were bad for piston rings or something.

There is even a high efficiency model. 3cyl NO a/c. Different cam, computer and all m/t

There are a few forums that are setup for this. A beretta could make a decent car for efficiency as there were several engines out there available and low drag.

If you lighten a Beretta and use the base throttle body injected 2.0 with m/t you could get into the 40MPG range
