no fuel past injectors
i have a 89 beretta gtu 2.8 with 77 thousand miles on it. it was running ok, rough idle sometimes but now it will not run. fuel pump, filter are good no leaks, good pressure at fuel rail but thats it. no fuel entering cylinders. i sprayed some starting fluid in it and it fired right up then died. is there any way to test the injectors with out having complete access to them. i dont really want to pull off the top of the intake. is it possible it could be the fuel pressure regulator. i was also told that in this model if the oil pressure switch went bad the pcm would shut off injector voltage. any help would be appreciated, i need this thing running instead of my 12 mpg explorer. thanks in advance.

Re: no fuel past injectors
Sounds like your injectors aren't firing. This could be caused by a few different issues, you could have a fault in the wiring harness such as a short or an open, a bad engine computer or even something as simple as a blown fuse. I have not heard of the engine computer cutting voltage to the injectors if the oil pressure sensor is bad, but it is a possibility. A way to test the oil pressure switch would be to use a multi-meter (a AC/DC volt, ohm, and amp meter), set to measure ohms, and see if the sensor has an "open" in its circuit. You can tell if it has an open in its circuit if the ohm meter says "out of range, OOR, infinite" or something along those lines depending on the brand of the meter itself. If you do not have a meter, you could simply spray starting fluid into the engine and start it while having someone continue to spray starting fluid into the engine, and then watch the gauge on the dash to see if it reads oil pressure, if it does, you're sensor is good.
I would put my money on a broken/shorted wire or a blown fuse though, thats what this problem is usually caused by.

Re: no fuel past injectors
This has NOTHING to do with your oil pressure sending unit...i just went through this on my 89. And i will second the fuse (there will be two) - check the #1 fuse (ECM) at the fuse box and there will be a fuse under the hood near the relays (this one actually is inline with the power to the injectors). If those are good i'm betting bad injector(s) and you WILL have to pull the upper intake. One of my injectors went bad (they are notorious for shorting) and shorted the ENTIRE injector control circuit. Pull the upper intake, pull the harness off the injectors and test the resistance of each injector - should be between 12 and 13 ohms. Replace the injector(s) that are bad and i bet your problem will be solved.
If you suspect the ECM, go grab one from a yard, swap your PROM and reinstall. If it still doesn't start, it is definitely one or more bad injectors.
Good luck.

the fuse inside the car is good. where is the fuse under the hood is it the one inside the plug against the firewall, if so it is also good looks like ill be pullin an intake next nice day thanks for the help guys
