Removing headliner board.

Post by indyyellow »

1990 model. I assume once I remove all the inter lights and the like the headliner board will come out of the car with some ease? Any tricks to getting it out and not damage it?

Because you'll break the board into pieces. After that it's just hook and loop holding it up.

Its like velcro in a way, but it uses bigger loops and like small rows of "clips", they will be placed all over the roof and headliner to help keep it up. Also stronger than velcro in some ways, so you could break it just trying to pull it loose. The reason he suggested removing the seats, is because your headliner will be particularly weak around where the sunroof goes through, and can be broken much easier. With the seats gone, it will be less strain getting the headliner out... I personally would push the passenger seat all the way forward and just remove the driver side one, it should be enough. Mine is still in good shape, but I never try to clean it, rub it or anything, cause that will start it coming loose! lol

Good luck.

Got the board out in once pc. have to remove drivers seat and the center consol and carpet and she is ready to look for water leaks and clean it up. Floors are perfect on the car. Lucky we went in gutted the interior. bootm side of padding is wet, floor was damp and it has been sitting in garage for 6 weeks.
