I'm just a little curious...

Post by Trevor »

I was just wondering if my car is somewhat rare or hard to find. I've been looking over the website here, and I haven't seen any 1993 Beretta Gtz's with the 3.1 L Auto. I've seen a 92' with a Quad 4, but I have never seen another Beretta just like mine. I am new to these forums, and new to Berettas. I've just gotten mine here a couple months ago, so I am just a "noob" I guess when it comes to Berettas!

Anywho, here are a couple pics of my car... I need to take more but my WONDERFUL Android's camera only works when it wants to. And if it doesn't want to and I go to turn it on, my phone shuts off. Nice eh? But anyways... Let me know! I'm starting to catch on to the years and what engines they had and such. I'm just not quite as experienced as everyone else is here.

Here are pics of my car:

There are a couple problems with it that I don't know if I have the funds to repair.. So if anyone has interest in it, let me know. If I decide to sell it I will come here first.

The 3.1 GTZ is a bit rare yes... Not many came with 3.1's most were Quad4's... But Others will argue that rarity aside the Quad is superior... But thats everyones opinion.

I concur with Jon.

That car would be better off a 3x00 swapped 5 speed car than 3.1/auto... and a fresh coat of that factory code paint.

Nice car either way! Love the color mate! What's the issue with the unit? I see you're in NE. Hows the rust on the car? I'm always in the market for more Berettas. Especially pre 94 units.

From what I see, just by walking around the car there is only one rust spot on the body. its a little bubbly spot on the lower drivers side door. It's other big problems are 1 or 2 weak motor mounts, cracked spoiler, and recently a broken exterior passenger side door handle... $55.00 at the local auto parts store... for a handle.. Right now I think I have a Fuel Filter that I need to replace, so I am not driving it right now until I have time to fix that.

I can't complain on how it drives, runs, feels, looks, even with the paint chipping. I treat my cars well, and this is just such a smooth drive its unbelievable to me. During the week I work anywhere around Lincoln as a sider, on weekends I drive 35 miles to my home town bar to work. It's not failed me yet!

The interior isn't that bad, seats are wonderful in front, I just covered them to keep them that way. The back seat has little holes, not noticeable unless your looking for them.

Just about 170k miles on it..
Has a Sunroof, which just recently started to leak, but just little drops under the handle.
I put in a Kenwood Stereo. It still has factory speakers from what I know, and I can't afford to get new ones. They work alright though. I added some subs just for personal enjoyment..

The exhaust rattles like a mofo, and I am thinking thats because of the weak motor mounts. Though to me it looks as if it may be missing a bracket above the cat. But I am definitely not a mechanic. My father is, yet I try not to bug him... Right now he has his own project. For fathers day I got him a Thrush Glasspack, and he wants to put it on his truck, but the brand new one that was put on it wont come off easy for him :D.

Anyways, All in all its in wonderful condition except for the cosmetics and weak motor mounts. I put in 91 Octane, and sea foam regularly (which is probably why the fuel filter is now plugged, considering the previous owner filled up the car at a Co-op Gas station). On top of the exhaust, I have Motor mounts bad. The previous owners dad was a mechanic! (He's my dad's boss, lmao) and he didn't know it had a weak motor mount. So I don't know...

I thought I was getting a deal when I bought it, because I was told it just had a exhaust bracket missing. But instead I get it with pretty much no brakes, so i replaced the front; yet now the back right brake is locking up so i have to see whats going on back there.

I'm not to sure I would get near what I paid for it if I were to sell it. I will try to get some pics up somehow. If only my phone would work correctly i'd have a ton up.

EDIT:: A big hur dur dur on my part. I forgot a substantial issue, which is the front bumper. The previous owner had someone back into her in a parking lot, so the bumper has a hole and some scuffs. No internal damage was done to the engine, or to the rest of the body during that accident.

Door handle you can find all day at the junkyard. Grab two, they break a lot. Rest of the stuff sounds very minor. You can save yourself some cash on the 91 unless you're able to get it with no ethanol in it that way, or are keen on the detergents. The 3.1 won't really make use of the octaine and may actually hurt your gas mileage.

It's the Shell Nitrogen Enriched Gas. I probably fell for what it was saying that it does, but I just want to do everything I can to keep this vehicle running as well as it can.

"It contains the highest concentration of our technically advanced, patented Nitrogen Enriched cleaning system providing maximum protection against performance-robbing gunk in both conventional and modern vehicles. With five times the amount of cleaning agents required by government standards, it actively shields and protects critical engine parts and cleans up performance-robbing gunk even faster than regular Shell Nitrogen Enriched Gasolines."

Yeah, I am putting in Sea Foam every tank, (it's on sale, which is nice right now).

I'm really hoping the problem I have right now is just the Fuel Filter...

What's happening is;

When I am sitting let's say at a stop light, my oil pressure gauge goes all the way down. Then, when I start moving and get above 1 and 1/2 rpms on the gauge, the car pretty much evens out. There are still small lurches, but not nearly as bad as before. At first I thought oh sh*t a oil pressure pump, but then my dad thought it may be a Fuel Filter... So we'll see!

93 GTZ's are rare in any engine level... 3.1 may make it rarer, although I'm not sure of actual production numbers.

Just take the upper radiator mounts off and push it forward. That will give you enough room. And for the love of monkeys fix that upper engine mount!

Well, I took my car to Auto Zone... And the guy said that it is a Valve, and thats why my car is sputtering. That, and I could have a Oil Pressure Gauge out.... soo looks like I am going to get another vehicle, because I can't afford either.

I wouldn't believe a guys opinion that works at autozone, check to see if you have a bad coil. lightly unplug them with the car off, then start it and pull each wire just a little, if you move it too far it will spark you and trust me it doesn't feel good. If they make a change, rougher idle the coil and plug are working, if there's no difference then you have a bad coil. Also whats the oil pressure gauge doing? probably a bad sender.
