Another trip to the yard today. Found something good...
So I went to one of my local Ecology yard as they were having a 50% off sale today. Once again, there were a million Corsicas and only TWO Berettas.
Interestingly enough, they were both 87 GTs.

If there is one reason why I love Kalifornia it's this:

again Kali love:

This interior on the red GT was in GREAT shape for it's age.

and I scored some of the best 1st Gen Door Panels I've ever laid eyes on. Sadly they weren't tan but that's nothing that can't be fixed. I plan to take them apart later and re-vinyl the entire enterior when I get the chance and cash. For now, I'll clean these up and they'll do nicely.

No clips were broken, not even the MAP POCKETS were broken. I was left in absolute awe!!

The map pockets on those were actually fairly robust. Those are probably really '88 GTs with '87 production dates. You'd have to check the VIN or emissions sticker to tell for sure.
You can really tell from those panels that they're the way it was originally designed to be.

One is an '88 for sure. The red one. Anything Sept and after is considered the next model year.
The other is likely a TRUE '87 as it's manufacture date is Feb. of '87. Mine is April of '87 or maybe March, but I KNOW mine is an '87 and it's titled that way.

<3! I'm going to the junkyard tomorrow. If I remember to bring a camera i'll take pics of all the rust to make you love Kali even more =P.

Nice find. You Gotta love California for rust but I hate it that I cannot find Beretta's in the junk yard. I have the same problem here. It is extreamly rare when I see a Z26, GTZ, and SUPER RARE A GTU. I do remember seeing a tan Beretta once but it was a 93.

My old 88 Z51 GT was manufactured 3/87 but was titled as an 88.SuzukiGhostRider wrote:One is an '88 for sure. The red one. Anything Sept and after is considered the next model year.

mine too. It was also Z51 GT and it also says manufactured in 87, titled as 88, but unfortunately the manufactured month is scratched off.Mr. Beefy wrote:My old 88 Z51 GT was manufactured 3/87 but was titled as an 88.SuzukiGhostRider wrote:One is an '88 for sure. That's why there isn't any such thing as a MY 87 GT.
you'd be hard pressed to find a real MY 87 beretta.

So you say you have an 87 GT? The 10th digit of your VIN is a "H" and you have the RPO code "Z21"SuzukiGhostRider wrote:Really Cliff????? Wrong. Then explain why my title says '87 on it.......
I'm not saying it's impossible to have an 87, just that they're extremely uncommon. However everything states that the GT was not introduced until model year 1988.

You should take a look at SEM Color Coat for changing those panels to tan. With the right base and clear, you should be able to match the stock shade.

hmm... I'll take a look at that. That sounds like a good idea. I actually have a store that supplies it right around the corner from my house.Kyle Anderson wrote:You should take a look at SEM Color Coat for changing those panels to tan. It's a bit expensive, but worth the money over cheaper alternatives. I was able to match my stock black parts, and the coating holds up extremely well. Even high traffic areas that get scuffed a lot, like the bottoms of the door panels, don't wear through.Wanako wrote:hmm... I'll take a look at that. That sounds like a good idea.
