1990 Indy Power seat option?????

Post by indyyellow »

In taking apart the interior of my sons 1990 Indy Beretta I see a line on the drivers seat only that comes down out of the back of the right side of the seat. It has some type of connection on it at the end with a little spring loaded button so it appears. What is it this? I saw no power source coming from the carpet or from where ever. HUH?

It's the lumbar support.

Thought it might be the seat belt switch, but then I read that it was coming OUT of the seat, not being beside the seat. Sorry.

It's a hand pump for a bag and as Woody said for the lumbar. Needless to say do not leave it pumped up to the max all the time.

So on the end of the line out of the seat there is just a TINY little button, like the size of the top of a pen. I assume on that end there is something that plugs into the line that I am missing?

There's no bulb on it.

Edit, just realized how unclear that is. Your air bulb to pump the lumbar support is missing. Should be abke to get one from the junkyard. It you can't let me know. I have extras

So I assume it is jsut a little ball attch'd to the end of that line. How lame is that. Everything was power by then, GM could only come up with that? ha ha

well realize all it was was to put a few lbs of air into a sack into the back of the seat.

Why go through all the trouble of fitting an air compressor for a lumbar support?

The luminas and monte carlos in the late 90s just had a plastic wheel on the side of the seat that rotated a wedge inside the chair....
