Bfest Car Prep Thread: How Are You Coming Along?

Post by Styluss »

How is your car coming along? What do you have left to do? Will you get all of your wants done as well as your needs??

As for myself, well... it is a long road and I am stressing, but optimistic. Only really stressing over the cosmetic aspects. Anyone that knows me knows I like my car to be clean cut for the Fest. I'm one of those owners that just keeps adding and adding things to their to do list prior to the event. And currently my car is far from it. Oh sure, I'll be at BFest, even if I have to use my Chevrolegs... But the cosmetic aspects of the car are starting to worry me a bit.

Here's the deal. If you didn't know, my driver's front wheel came off as I was driving not long ago. See here: http://www.beretta.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=6342

So, I have a fender to paint and install. I have to paint my entire body kit plus my super secret mod. The car is currently in the shop getting the once over from the above incident as well as an oil change for the trip. It currently has no interior as it is sitting in my garage. Oh, I have to fix the water leak that was the main reason for removing the interior as it was... The Transmission bell housing is cracked as well. There is a SLIM chance I can have that warranty repaired before the end of the week. I have an LED side marker that needs glued together and installed. Get car back, replace interior, replace body kit, install secret mod, Detail everything. Sigh...

The painting of the parts seems to be my cramp here. I need to do it in my garage, but my garage has my Rally Cavi in it. A dead, barely running, non-registered car with a window stuck down. I have a plan, but damn man it is going to be stressful and take some work.

As for the wants? Hell, most all those are out the window. So much for all of the engine bay work I was going to do to win Best Engine Bay. But I still have Best Modified Late Model Interior to go for! The fresh tint on the car will help with that ;)

So, what do you have to do?

For once, all I'm doing is cleaning the car. If I can find the speaker boxes for the rear deck this weekend, I'll swap those in and remove my sub.

Let my wife take it to work to use as leverage to get the days off... install a better charge wire, Buy sparkplugs, change them, change oil, and install new clean fuel injectors when they return. Oh and get bottle filled... I know US41 does it but my cousin charges way less ;)

THEN I can clean it... That will probably happen Tuesday night after I pack it. Weekend is already packed with stuff.

Hell I didn't know you broke the marker too dude!

Good luck with it, you will get it done...

As for me, hell I doubt it will get much more than an oil change and a bath. I have no time to do any real mod work I planned or anything... Sucks. Been busier than hell here.

Mines been in the shop since Sunday.

The exhaust rusted in half in front of the muffler and then the entire exhaust system just started to fall off and apart.

I am hoping to have it back by Friday

I've just got to wash mine and make it all shinier and prettier!

The only thing that I need to fix will be fixed once we get to bfest and I trade for some parts! :D

BTW, I have headlights and a purple bowtie/grill insert off of a 95 z26. If anyone is looking for these let me know and I'll bring them along.
Mostly you meet friends when traveling by accident, like by sitting next to them on the train, or in a restaurant, or in a holding cell.

the 1st week of march i took the GTZ to the speed shop, they pulled the quad and tranny... A complete rebuild.. the speed auto shop says it takes time to rebuild a drivetrain.

as of today, the tranny has been rematted to the N/A Supper Quad (i hope she is supper on the dyno). i wanted to leave this weekend 18/19 for Indy. the departure date is as follows, "unknown, but i am next to depart"

7 days until I take off for Indy..

I still have to get headliner in right to get both sunvisors in (currently only have 1 in).. Then the factory black A pillars, rear panels, "coat hooks".. Then the carpet stays and kick panels. then everything is assembled.

Then its down to detailing the hell out of it lol.

I had one third brake light bulb out, I went ahead and changed all 4 while I had it apart then plugged it in and put it back in the spoiler and now it doesnt work.. I havent messed with it again yet to see whats wrong.

Another problem is that my drivers side foglight doesnt work all the time.. It has a good bulb in it.. It worked for awhile and it stopped working again tonight. Working on that next.. i need my fogs to work haha

Luckily I have black headlight covers.. Since Brett never shipped the good set of headlights I paid for to put on, at least i can cover my crappy ones for now.

Its alot to do, especially since i dont have a day off.. I get spare hours to work on it. Im mostly worried about getting the headliner to line up well and getting the foglight to work. For some reason I tried and tried and couldnt get the holes to line up with the factory black headliner for the passenger side sunvisor.

It's probably a grounding issue (rust on the back of the lens where the spade connector goes).

How much are they charging to rebuild your transmission?

I sourced it out to ingerned performance in GA. Changed my FDR to 3.94 and installed a LSD unit for about $1200.00

Well since I hit a deer two weeks ago, I picked up a hood from the junk yard that I thought was in pretty good shape. Turns out the lip was hiding a good chunk of rust. So having that done before Berettafest is out of the plans, just gonna drive her dented.

I'd like to have my LED sidemarkers in for Bfest but the chances of that are looking slimmer each day.

Replaced my sunvisors with ones that aren't sagging, but the fabric on them is worse, just gonna live with it for now and recover them later.

I'll have to work on my passenger side headlight as well since it got a bit damaged in the incident. Other than that I guess it's just cleaning mostly.
