Neutral Safety Switch
Neutral Safety Switch
Looking to find wiring info to see if the neutral safety switch swap is possible by turning the on car connector plug upside down and plugging it in the newer switch wanting to be used.
The second smaller plug is something I don't remember its purpose for in the newer switch, but would like to know what ever I can on that too.
Left is a 3 speed trans, the right is a 60E.

Re: Neutral Safety Switch
I'm going to fire up my laptop and I'll post up the diagram I have for 95 and 96.
Airtex number for 94-95 is 1S5224, 96 is 1S5225. So it has to have one more internal switch on the 94-95 version to show OD, including that small plug as well, but 94-95 is on a pigtail.
The second number you put up almost appears to be a 4t45e type car, not 60e.

Re: Neutral Safety Switch
This is all I could find pertaining that switch... The larger wires are for the starting circuit, and the smaller ones are for the Range selector itself and the reverse lights... not sure what wires are where, but the colors should give you an idea.

Re: Neutral Safety Switch
Awesome thanks Jon.
The one on the left is the one it used to have and the harness supports only that. But for the one on the right, it plugs in that newer switch only if I flip the pigtail upside down ..... but I dunno if the wiring matches up at that point too, would be great if it does!
It should be same for 60e & 40/45e depending on year. But I'd prefer the info for a 45e if possible.

Re: Neutral Safety Switch
Yeah I don't have wiring diagrams for the 45e, so maybe they are the same, but seeing the PN is different, something has to differ in there.
The larger plug may control the P/N start lockout, and then the Reverse lights, so that may still be 100% the same, and the smaller plug was possibly used for the gear selection since that smaller plug only came on the 60e's 45e's and 65e's the 3t40 ecm did not need to know what range you had it in since it was mechanically controlled shifting.

Re: Neutral Safety Switch
Do you by chance have the connector/plug end view and pin out information?

Re: Neutral Safety Switch
The pin out letters are in the diagrams above... You have to just match color and letter on the plugs to find out what they are. I currently am not with the car, otherwise I would snap a pic of the stock plug to show you letters and colors, but without crossing that with the above diagrams I cant tell you what they do. I have nothing else over what I posted above. All of the wiring for that one switch as you can see is spread out in the main diagrams, there is not one section specific to the Neutral safety switch, part of it is in the Reverse diagram, another part in the Starting section and the last part in the trans control section.

Re: Neutral Safety Switch
This is what I gathered from my diagrams...
C2 (assuming its the small 4 pin plug since its all range switches)
D-Blk/White Trans Range A
B-Yellow Trans Range B
C-Gray Trans Range C
A-White Trans Range D
C1
B-Pink 12v hot
F-Lt Green Reverse Lights
G-Yellow Start Wire from key
E-Purple Start Wire to Starter
D-Blk/White Ground
I know there are other wires I'm missing but they are not listed in the 96 diagram.

Re: Neutral Safety Switch
Thanks again. I was just trying to make it simplified for ease of reading when I get a chance at obtaining the ends.
This is what all I found for the 3 speed.
