Removing tint.

I need to take the tint off of my windows. I have heard of numerous methods, but want to hear what the community has to say. The other thing is, I peeled the tint off of my drivers window and all the sticky is left behind. I can barely roll the window down because of it! How can I best fix that?

Heat it up and use a flat razor blade its gonna take a while but 3m adhesive remover works I have also used lots of windex on a warm day and a straight edge razor in a holder to get the glue all off. Also with tint still on the windows if you have a heat gun heat it up good and while heating slowly peel it off at an angle not straight out. After a couple cars I said F it and let zeibart do it on my 04 impala for 100$

When I swapped a door on my old Volvo the door from the JY had tint on it. I just pulled the window and cleaned it up that way.. It was easier to do it on a bench.

They actually do sell tint remover though.

Ryan,I know this sounds crazy and "smelly" but I had a 2000 Pontiac Bonniville I had that chrome fade tint on...I got pulled over and ticketed and there for had to remove it....I wasn't about to pay to have a pro take it off so I peeled it off and like you I had all that sticky...I tried remover,etc...and it was taking FOREVER....my dad came up with the bright idea (as he's always comming up with some "rigged" up way of doing crap) he said to try carb cleaner.(yeah I know) but what the hell,I tried it and the sticky literally wiped off quick to I might add....like I said you have the fumes and it does evaporate rather quickly,but it worked for me anyway!!!
But my tint that I had to remove was just the front side windows...I don't know how carb cleaner would affect you rear window with the defroster

soak all of the windows with windex on the inside, and put shrink wrap on em. then crank up the heat in the car and let it sit for a hour or so. works much better when its hot out so you dont have ur car sitting running. ive done this way before and the tint just peels off, and the adhesive wipes off. i say give it a shot! try it on a side window or something first to test it. its been awhile. lol

Or straight ammonia. That's whats in the windex I think that eats it.

I just pulled it off - then used gasoline to take off the glue/gunk - then used windex to clean the window...

Let me update you all.

The 3M Adhesive Remover was totally useless. This is the first application of that product that I have seen it not be effective. However the Goo Gone I picked up at Home Depot was amazing!! I got a proper razor blade, scraped off what I could for remaining adhesive and went to town. I had to have the shop clean the rear window off for me as it was REALLY stuck on there.

I love goo gone. I havent found a problem that good old petroleum distillates cant fix. Especially when you need the citrus smell. Otherwise next time just use Naptha.

GooGone is literally Naptha and orange juice.
