you can pull out a front control arm without dropping the
-corresponding subframe correct? 1995 z26
i got my replacement, and was looking at it yesterday, i get a 15mm on the bolt, and what seems to be a 21mm on the nut? (how would a 21mm fit in the subframe to get onto it? i cant get my 20mm in, and i dont have a 21mm wrench anyways, and the hole in the subframe isnt big enough for a ratchet? maybe i'll try a smaller different ratchet...

When i took mine out, i used a wrench on the bolt head, and then an impact with a wobble on the back of it to get the nut loose. Before you do this, soak the nut with WD40 or PB Blaster as it will help the nut get out of there without ripping the threads off the bolt.

ok so a good wobble bit should fit in the subframe hole? awesome. i'll have to buy one, but no problem. i have impact extensions with a bit of rounded end to wobble a bit, but not nearly enough. thanks! i'll have to see if i have a shallow socket that fits the nut as well. only have 4-5 shallow sockets and a near fully kit of deep sockets.
yes they have been soaking in wd40 a couple days now. i'll give it somemore.

Re: you can pull out a front control arm without dropping th
got it out! wasnt that bad when i went back an looked at it. i wd-40'd them, then the next day or 2 i went back and was able to get an impact gun on one end. at least got it freed up and spinning, then was able to put a standard 15mm shallow socket and ratchet on the front bolt, and a 19? mm i think it was for the nut, open end wrench fit. then same deal on the back, but an 18" socket i think for the bolt, and i didnt have an open end wrench bigger than 21mm, so was able to move the brake lines a touch and get an adjustable locked on... then the ball joint came out without too much fuss.
i used 'chassis saver' paint (much like POR15), after i scraped what i could off of the subframe, inside 'buckets/housings' and out, and blew them out with an air gun. i also cut the old stabalizer links out with a grinder and hammer... did both sides since the bushings were dead... likely stock. i'll try to toss it all back together tomorrow most likely.
