Part Name????

Im trying to fnd out the name of this part.... i believeit has something to do with the throttle?? i think it sucks in air? its on a 89 gtu its to the far right of the engine compartment behind the battery looks like it has a few wires and vaccum hoses to it and its a soft boot... im trying to find it on the gm pics website but cant seem to do so.... am i right as far as the functions of that or wrong??

yuppers thats the part.. so that has to do with the cruise control??

Yeah, 87-94 had vacuum assisted cruise. 95-96 got the digital.

well i guess that explains why my cruise doesnt work that sucks!

It could be a crack in a vacuum line to the cruise diaphragm. They have a tendency to crack under the battery due to acid (not to mention age).

Yup, that's the CC unit. What had me confused was you saying it was "behind the battery". The CC unit is up on the firewall driver's side.

yea i should have said along the hood rail or something like that lol.. so just possibly if one of those hoses came loose may be my problem with the cruise not working? or possibly something more in depth ?

What tends to happen is the plastic hose leading behind the battery gets cracked. Once you find it , snip the bad section out and replace it with a rubber piece to "patch" the two ends together. A quick way to tell if that line is cracked too is your heater vents will not switch. From defrost to vent, etc.
