1989 Beretta GTU Motor Supports

Post by felixGTU »

So I bought the motor supports for my GTU automatic and I wanted to know ho to change the support on the back passenger side (the one behind the motor). From where should I take out the mount?

There are two nuts on the mount studs and the two bolts that scure the mount to the bracket on the engine. This is one of the easiest mounts to change on these. All of this and removal/installation of the mount from the vehicle is done from underneath the car.

Thanks. Would you recommend to take off the tire. Will it be in my way?

Shouldn't matter. It's a fairly painless procedure. Just jack the car up , secure it on jack stands so you can get under it. Put a block of wood (VERY IMPORTANT) on a jack , and lift until the wood just barely puts pressure on the oil pan. This is to make a weight distributing lift for the motor to rest on while you remove the old mount and to hold position for the new one. NEVER jack a car up by the oil pan. Remove mount, line new one up, bolt up. Done. Simple.

Thanks guys. So I installed the motor mount. I also replaced the torque Mount. Good thing I did they where completely shot. Motor was sitting all the way to bottom. The one that I thought was going to be simple was the front passenger side but it seems to be the hardest one. The way I see it is that I need to remove my radiator in order to remove the support. What do you guys think about this one?

You don't need to remove the radiator...it takes some rotation and tight squeezes but you won't need to...i've done mine twice now. One word of advice on this one...bolt it to the engine bracket before you bolt it to the frame. The bracket is aluminum and the threads will strip otherwise.
