new fuel injectors now car dont start

Post by JAWS89GTU »

Just put new injectors in this evening went to crank the car but it didn't start just cranked...did a fuel pressure test it crap to 45 than shot back to 0...pullled out the spark plugs and they were all dry...I tried and cranked her. Over on 8 different occasion and all 8 were no good...does this happen when you put in new injectors and it takes time for it to go through the system or is something else wrong? I rechecked all the vaccum lines and they were all good too...I was pretty mad when this happened as it took me like 6hours and working in the dark blew as well...if anyone had this problem or can even give me some pointers that would be great...thanks

Elaborate on the fuel pressure test. What happened?

Do you smell any fuel? Check fuses?

Well any time you pull injectors you will have air in the rail and it needs to get pumped through. When I have my fuel line disconnected I turn the key on and off a few times to prime the pump and push fuel to the rail. But if you have been trying for a while then you should have fuel there by now.

Yea like I said I did it at least 8 times and it cranks and sounds like it is about 2 kick over but it just continues to crank guess I could keep tryin to crank to force the fuel through hopefully...if its not one thing its another

Check for leaks too. I tore a rail side oring once and that thing leaked like a mOfo when the pump was on

Do you hear your pump cycling?

Ugh...there is a red wire going to nothing up on the drivers side corner of the engine bay near where the wiring goes through the firewall...this is the fuel pump prime pigtail. Jump it to the battery...your pump should turn on and will stay on until you disconnect the jumper. You should be able to hear it. Better yet...attach your fuel pressure gauge and see what happens when you connect the jumper. You don't need your key on for this either. If you don't hear your pump or you get no pressure at the gauge, then your pump is likely bad. If you do hear it or get pressure, try starting your car with the jumper attached and see what happens.

And FYI...your fuel system should hold pressure after the pump is turned off.

Go to your local parts store and rent the noid light kit. This will show if you are getting signal to your injectors or not.
