Why does GM make small changes from it seems year to year...
Why do they change stuff around so much.
I am finding it frustrating with the little things GM does with these cars. You would think the lighter assbly, the lighter, the unit it sticks in to get hot would be the same from a 90 to a 95. NOPE. Totally diff, wiring, have to modify some plastic to make it fit. The back ashtray is diff from a 90 to 91 and up.
Today I go to pull a nice clean black side trim that sits in front of the back side window that matchs the same black trim that on the door/door handle pull. Well the one on the side back window at the door is diff from 96 to 90. I was so pissed when I got home and saw that. These are little things why gently caress with them? makes it hard to get parts. Arrrg

I was amazed at how many changes there were when I built my 91 with a lot of 95 parts. Engine/trans mounts, computer, cruise, rear suspension, gas tank, exhaust...even the HVAC in a 91 is different than a 95. It's the same damn dash!

Where the spring perches in different locations on the 91-95 body Eric? I know the axle was different, but I wasn't sure if the spring perches changed locations to accommodate different axles too.

Man I love the old headlight and wiper switches. Not too big on the newer style.
The old dimmer was easy to fix if it got stuck on. Just bent the contact tab and it was good as new. But so far I haven't had any problems with the new style. Still I just like the look and the control of the old stuff. A few times I have hit the washer when I wasn't watching what I was doing. That would never happen with the old style. Also I like haveing the front speakers on the dash, much better sound that way.

Usually the changes are to make something cheaper.

You cant really complain about the ash trays being different from 90-91, the whole interior changed.

werd.
I like finding changes like......the knee plate under the dash? mine came with short ass screws that stripped out shortly after. In the yard I took the same piece off to get in the dash and found screws that were easily twice as long. Problem solved.

Yeah, the newer springs are further back in relation to the axle bushings, giving them more leverage. So the perch is relocated, and a different style. The older upper perch is bigger than the new, and the older lower perch is smaller.heavywoody wrote:Where the spring perches in different locations on the 91-95 body Eric? Why would you think they would be the same when everything else is different? Lol

They never made any allowances for passenger SRS. They went through the bother of a new specification airbag in 1993 but didn't change the fugly design. Yet they did a lot of changes in 1994. They even added an early form of a BCM to the 1994's.
If the Beretta was considered upscale from the Cavalier....why didn't the Beretta get leather and a power sunroof like competing Ford Probe and Chrysler products. The GTZ and Z26 did get expensive cloth..and very durable.....foam not so durable.

I'm still kicking myself for reupholstering my Z seats in cloth rather than leather.ErichZ26 wrote:If the Beretta was considered upscale from the Cavalier....why didn't the Beretta get leather and a power sunroof like competing Ford Probe and Chrysler products. I had planned on putting black glove leather with a suede inserts and RED frenched stitching on them into the 92GTZ. If you found the right person who works with leather they would look awesome.woody90gtz wrote:I'm still kicking myself for reupholstering my Z seats in cloth rather than leather.ErichZ26 wrote:If the Beretta was considered upscale from the Cavalier....why didn't the Beretta get leather and a power sunroof like competing Ford Probe and Chrysler products. You can always do them!
