crimped hose???

crimped hose???
what does this hose do? it is crimped and i'm not sure how to fix it or what it does for that matter. its hose just below the glare in the pic and is situated about 12 inches below the alternator.

That is just a heat shield wrapping around the metal lines for the AC system. its not the actual hose thats crimped.
