Sexy engine bay! but im a hipocrit because the rad to strut braces arent factory. not that my cars "factory" but they just stick out like a sore thumb to me lol. love the firewall cover tho. I havent seen a pattern in the yards as to what models "had" the firewall covers from the factory. they're actually rare enough that ive only seen maybe 4-5 tops and 2 of those I pulled to sell. maybe its a region thing i dunno. Either way that pic is sexyscd88ga wrote:

His Indy has the center bracket for the firewall cover, why would GM install a bracket to hold nothing?90INDYLIN wrote:I know that the firewall covers did not come on the Indy from the factory, the front cover is standard.

All the firewall covers I've seen are 2 piece and the bracket in the middle held the 2 pieces together with a knob. Knobs are missing alot bc of careless/fat/lazy owners dropping them or whatever...I had a bunch of these for sale maybe 2 months ago....now I'm too far from my storage unit to sell them anymore....you guy's lose not mine. But damn they make the engine bay look super sexy!scd88ga wrote:His Indy has the center bracket for the firewall cover, why would GM install a bracket to hold nothing?90INDYLIN wrote:I know that the firewall covers did not come on the Indy from the factory, the front cover is standard.

Tim his car is a show car. If you need any tips or info he could be a great help to your project.90INDYLIN wrote:I know that the firewall covers did not come on the Indy from the factory, the front cover is standard.

I think the firewall cover makes it look more CLEANED UP if you will. Can't hurt the car, and if I sell the next person prob will never know the diff.

It sure does.
I still don't understand why you would go to all this trouble just to sell the car. In the end you will have a very nice car.

IF it is sold, I started our at a low entry point (what I paid), most of the rest of the costs has been my time. At this point I probably will see it through a bit further along. I am one to buy, fix up, and sell cars. I at times have a short fuse in keeping them, just how I am. My wife HATES it. We shall see. My motto is that EVERYTHING is for sale for the right price. The young folks still like these, and when they see a Yellow Indy, they really get a little jaw drop going.
When I took it to the guy that did the headliner I dropped it off the night before he was to do it. The next morning his 16 yer old daughter asked if it was hers. HA HA HA

I understand, but to me these cars are getting too rare to let some kid smash one and send it to the crusher.

I agree, that is why I am letting the boy drive it for his drivers test then I am buying it from him so he can get a truck. They key to keeping this thing long run is finding a dash and door panels. That is going to be hard. Finding, then doing so during a time that I have the $$$.

If you notice in our signature ours is a show car also. Our first Indy was bought new from a dealer and the second from a pace car collector with 165 mi. ...both were without the fire wall cover and both had the center holding stud. Why they produce what they do is only known by GM. but it do look good with it!

90 INDY, '10 SS, 96 C4 CE (86,600 mi. on the Indy, 2nd at super chevy show, 02, 03,1st in 01, 04, 05, 06, 07,08 !! sadly sold)
Re: I am missing this, is it on any other beretta?
The bracket for the firewall cover holds some relays. Why would GM make a bracket with and without the stud when they could just make one with the stud that serves both purposes just as easily?
Having the stud on both rather than making and maintaning inventory of two different parts that do the same job is cheaper than they money they waste on one extra unused bolt on a few cars.

That's what I figured. I'll just stick to my plan of powder coating the relay bracket to make it look perdy instead of covering it up with plastic.
