Just go to Napa. Get this part from them:

#770-2874 (20 piece)
6.6mm DIA (9/32")

GM Part # 20433026

You will need a pop rivet gun with the proper fitting to install these. Napa has that too.

Maybe, but those are what is supposed to be used. Mine were plastic rivets before I replaced the fender.

I'm positive that what belongs are the plastic christmas tree push in rivets. christmas trees are jargon too. if not look in the HELP section at any autoparts store. BEWARE some are substandard and are hard plastic that break off instead of doing their job. stupid reverse engineering foreigners

The proper retainers are a mix of push in trees & plastic pop rivets. The rivets go along the top outer edge of the wheel wheel well liner where the fender is sloted to allow for build variation.

The OE rivet #12337915. They are $0.52 at GM Parts Giant.

It is possible, perhaps probable, that the mix of rivets and push fasteners were changed in the later years. The parts I listed are straight from the 1987 - 1992 GM parts catelog.

hey guys, i just replaced mine, they are 'supposed to be' the plastic rivets (exactly like a metal rivet), they are a one-time-use only deal, and the reason they are used preferably is that they pull in the inside a lot tighter and better than all other forms of the 'christmas tree' deals and the push pins... the push pins which are removable, dont do much when used in this spot, they dont pull in tight enough. i ended up just using a large 'christmas tree plug', they will hold really well (provided you get the largest size that fits tightly), i had to tap mine in the last 1/3 with a hammer lightly, they fit so snug.
4th one's a charm, 5th one is, beginnning to sound like this is an addiction...

The plastic rivets are the correct form of fastener to use on these. While you can use others, plastic rivets are what was used from the factory.

I still have the rivets to install on my car from when it was repainted 8 years ago (lol). I just need to get a rivet gun.

HAHA

Same here. I have them in a box waiting to be used... ;)

Edit:

Here is a funny, stated right on the box, they say that these rivets could break off short, meaning before they are tight if the moisture content of the rivet is too low. If that happens, they recommend soaking the rivets overnight in water... LOL No joke, this is right on the box!
