weird haze on inside of windshield? AND....!!!!
Yeah I didn't know where to put this topic..lol. But anyways I'm still around just haven't been here since i parked my turdretta. I bought an 86 Dodge RamCharger 2wd 318, have alotta work into it, headers, exhaust, a 360 that i started to build and lot more in it in the last 3 months. Well sunday i found out my division is being eliminated. So now im parkin the 13mpg hwy/9mpg city tank and draggin the beretta back outta the weeds to fix an drive til i get employeed again. Right now the cars hovering a huge puddle of tranny fluid and hooked up to a charger.
Anywho, for a yr and a half at night theres this nasty foggy greenish blue haze on the inside my windshield. I've cleaned it and cleaned it and it always comes back. I dont get it, the windshields two yrs old. Some told me its heater core? But the heater works HOT AS HELL! Some say "stop f%$Kin wit a beretta and get a real car." I figured since im replacing tranny pan and gasket (again), filter, tranny lines, axle seals, another alternator, and tryin to figure what's up wit my electrical system, i might as well figure this problem out too. I've been told just give up on the car, but i have got too much time in it, and almost all my plans for it have come true so i can't just give up yet.
Any help at all would be appreciated very much.

Re: weird haze on inside of windshield?
Yup, sure sign of impending or already happening, heater core failure. The greenish haze is coolant fog creeping up your windshield.

Re: weird haze on inside of windshield?
it is likely the heater core yeah... not much else besides mold will go on the windshield unless you put it there... and mold, it would have to be sitting there untouched for a while, while moist.
you likely smell antifreeze all the time if you have a haze on your windshield... smells really sweet.

Re: weird haze on inside of windshield?
I will second the PITA, but i've done worse (84 Mustang!!!). It can all be done from under the dash. Except for the hoses...you'll have to get under the car for those.
Re: weird haze on inside of windshield?
Actually I didn't find changing the heater core to be that bad. I would rather change the water pump and the radiator though as they are easier!! LMAO
Still, the part is cheap, and as long as you take your time you shouldn't have too many issues.

Try doing it on an 01 GMC Jimmy... You need to remove the dash.ronaconda wrote:I will second the PITA, but i've done worse (84 Mustang!!!). It can all be done from under the dash. Except for the hoses...you'll have to get under the car for those.

Gotta do the same on the Mustang in addition to removing the entire HVAC ducting...firewall is bare by the time its apart!!!3X00-Modified wrote:Try doing it on an 01 GMC Jimmy... Re: weird haze on inside of windshield?
Wet carpet does not mean bad heater core. Our core covers have a dump that goes outside the vehicle. The wet carpet is probably from simply a firewall and or fresh air vent leaking water in when it rains.unsmart1 wrote:Yeah its my heater core: ( my floors wet up front.

Re: weird haze on inside of windshield?
Unless the wet smells like antifreeze... lol
And you don't have to remove as much as you think you do. Just have to be able to position yourself to get under there. I found it easier to do once I pulled the passenger seat...

AND if there is enough coolant leaking, it will roll out the side onto the floor during turns as it would on mine - soaked my passenger side foot well.
