Calendar picture submissions, pick your favorite!

Post by scd88ga »

Ok, so I think I narrowed 500+ pictures down to just 10! Let me know which one you think looks best! If need be, I can edit out any signs showing in the pics Thanks!!! :D

2..

Just remember, sometimes darker pictures don't look as good on the calendar.. But that one would work I think.

Seeing as I have over 500 pictures, I do have a brighter version of the same picture! :) I also have variations of every other picture I posted! lol

Here's a link to the brighter version: http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu34 ... oot048.jpg

Notice with the brighter one, you lose quite a bit of the cloud detail and shadowing which is why I went with the slightly darker version.

#1 is great, just chop out the highway sign. The car is a tripod in #2 with only 3 wheels showing...that's a no no. You backdrop looks great!

Thanks!:D As mentioned in the first post, removing the signs is no problem. If you look closely in pic #2 you can catch just a tad of the 4th wheel, but i know what you mean about the tripod thing, it can be distracting and disorienting, but most people don't notice. I LOVE this location for photos! I've been there a few times with the Z now! The first time was about a year ago when the river flooded it's banks, but unfortunately the road was flooded and we couldn't make it all the way to the river and the boat landing parking lot... The second time was about a month ago for the Wisconsin GM Tuners monthly meet. I'll have to go back again to see if the fishing is any good there! ;)

I like #510 the best. =P

Out of those, I think I like #1 or a variant of one with the signs cropped out. Darn them for notifying people when an exit is coming up.. lol

#1 would have been a good canidate for some HDR fun if you had taken multiple light exposures.

Yeah. I've yet to get into HDR. So many overdone photos have turned me off to the practice. Someday I'll play around with it again.

HDR when overdone on the right photo looks cool... But it has to be of the right thing... it can't just be balls to the wall on everything. I'll admit, it is tough to do with a car since it will screw with the color of the paint quite a bit.

I like these that I did way back in the past...

I did links to not distract from the topic.

#1.
#2
#8 (my favorite)

are the best ones IMO.

HDR FTL. It's a great technique, but many people overuse it and make it look very amateur-ish. It has become overused and played-out, unfortunately.
