OK, so convince me!!!!

Post by indyyellow »

Some of you have expressed your impressions (did I say that right?) on me to keep my Indy. Give me the reasons again to why I should hold on to it when at heart I am a v8 dude and would rather restore an old V8.
BRING IT ON. What is the value in this car, money or otherwise to keep this car?

My reasons not too:

Can't find decals
Interior door panels/Dash replacements are well, not out there
It's a FWD GM

Ha ha ha ha. I am a chevy guy at the end of the day but the Magnum is fun as hell to drive and there is not one at every street corner. :)
Two cars that I really would want to have/restore is the 1961-63 Tbird conv or do a monster upgrade to a Miata. Thus the struggle to keep the Beretta and TAKE IT HOME in restoring when I will never see that money back out of it I feel. Thus putting off those other cars longer.

Oh I realize that restoring a car is more costly then just going out and buying one that is already done in most cases. But like most of you here, you typically want to do it yourself cause it is a guy thing, our time to get away into the garage.

There's not? Really? Maybe where you live, but I see Magnum's, Rustang's, and Slowmaros at every block it seems. What I DON'T see all the time are Beretta's.

Well in all fairness the Beretta has been out of production for 15 years, Magnum going on 4. All the same not many made and only for 3 years.
Anyways getting off topic. I think for me the big game changer is the lack of DECALS avail for these. If those could be had that would make a diff.

If you don't want to restore or keep it, don't bother. All you'll end up doing is hating the car more and dumping loads of cash into it. Just like a shitty job.. You wouldn't go if you didn't have to would you?

The Decals should be able to be reproduced.. the vinyl shop local to me does the "printed" Decals like the factory Indy ones.

Too many people complain about the purist part of it and want OEM only... But its time to realize that re-pop is all your going to get.

The "purists" are concerned with having it duplicated in cut vinyl vs screen printed like the OEM ones were. I can understand that.

But if you can get them reproduced as the originals were I fail to see the issue.

I bought a set of original teal Indy decals and I can get duplicates just like the originals. If anybody is interested I can get quotes ....
