Rotating tires..

Post by 96B-Mike »

Yesterday I rotated my tires back to front and obviously vise versa. *Before i rotated my tires I did have a slight vibration during high speeds (70-80), mostly highway* Now that I rotated my tires the vibration is worse then ever. It vibrates roughly and starts around 50-60 mph and I can mostly feel it coming from the front passenger tire.

-I did check the lug nuts to be sure they were all tighten
-Before i brought the wheels, the previous owner say they were "freshly balanced"

My guess is to rebalanced the wheels and see if it stops the vibration and if that doesnt solve the problem then their must be something wrong with my suspension?

Input?

Yep. Re-balance first. But I would also give them a once over. May want to pull the front ones, make sure you didn't trap any debris between the wheel and the hub, then re tighten to around 95 ftlbs.

I would feel around the tire, make sure you don't have a bulge in them. Any internal broken cords would show as a bulge on the tire, either in the tread or on the edge of the tread at the sidewall. Careful when doing this, if there are bad spots, there could even be wire sticking out, which would tear up your hand.

After that, have an alignment shop give it a checkup.

it ended up being a bad tire even with 80% tread left!...Riken Raptor i think was the brand name of the tire but anyways it was the metal laces in the tread? that was split apart caused the rough ride...got a used tire (Bridgestone Potenza) and it rides normal again

i couldnt believe a tire with so much tread would do that?

yeah sometimes it happens. usually with cheaper tires, but still yet with decent tires at times too... could be from bouncing off a curb sometimes too...
