Who makes the LSD for it? or are you going for a legit Quaife or something of that order?

Yup. A Quaife for $976 is the best price I've seen. I can get a brand new 0 mile trans for $400. Clutch & flywheel adaptor are $815 and axles will be $800+.

so almost 3k is worth spending rather then just replacing the tranny in which you can have rebuilt for way cheaper even with genuine gm parts im sure??
but it would be cool to have 6 spd in beretta

I was all gung-ho about a 6spd until I got prices for clutch setup and diff. That basically triples the price.

Chill with the clutch adapter, totally a waste of money. I could draw up a adapter to go from a beretta flywheel to your spec clutch and have it made at a machine shop for much less, and I am sure you know people out there that can help you make it even cheaper.
I would also try to build my own axles, knowing that stock axles are more than enough.
You can do this cheap, and its gonna be badass

fidanza flywheel or stock? How many miles on your clutch? I'm currently running a spec 2 also. Haven't had any issues with it

That word and reliability don't mix.Barry wrote:You can do this cheap

I think all the effort put into that swap would easily deliver equal fun back.
I stopped counting the cost of hobby long long time ago.. At least I do what I do because I want to, Not because of cost-effectiveness or reasonability... Have some joy in your life is my advice

Without ideas like Eric's, where would the community be? Honestly I think we need more people like Eric, Jon, Asylum, Weba, Dusty, etc to push the envelope of what's normal to create more "firsts" for our cars.

Re: 5 speed conversion parts, LSD, etc.
Barry the input shaft splines are different, so I'd need a new disc anyway...and then we're back to needing a new pressure plate due to the standard thickness change by SPEC a couple years ago. And I want rugged axles. The DIY solutions I saw on the Fiero board are pretty rigged. I don't want to go from a LSD back to an open either.
If the Beretta were my only project I'd do it in a heartbeat. But right now I'm in the middle of tuning the truck (and swapping in LS7 lifters this weekend) with the upstairs floor to do and a basement to finish off with a bunch of cabinets in the house. Not to mention the Camaro needing a paint job worse than bad, and the house needing a new roof in the spring. And there's that wedding thing coming up. haha

you'd be better off just fixing what you have right now, otherwise its going to be a waste of money on jackstands till you can even touch it.

Re: 5 speed conversion parts, LSD, etc.
I've already decided to keep it 5spd. That way I can have it done in a week using expensive parts that are already paid for.
I'm still gonna buy a 6spd while I can get it brand new for cheap. Just to have it for the future.
