For Sale Rules Not approved.
Re: For Sale Rules Not approved.
I won't argue that what has been working for the past several years is not a bad thing. But every so often we get a sale posting that leaves us doing the same thing over and over. Asking for more info. Asking for a picture. Asking for a price. Asking where they are located, etc etc...ErichZ26 wrote:I can see that SGR is displeased with my input into this.
Keeping it simple is a good idea. Making unnecessary rules is not keeping things simple. It looks like there is a push to organize sales a bit more on this site. Some of us have sold over a decade on this forum and have experience of what works.
I do not wish to exclude anyone who does not want to post photo's.
All I think that we are trying to do, is have A GUIDELINE as to how a thread could be setup, to make it easier for both the buyer and the seller. That's it. Lets keep the rules/outline for this to that end. Ok?

Re: For Sale Rules Not approved.
Not sure why but i can upload anything I want from here at work, but it did not work from home. I'll look into that with will tonight when he is over.
Insert Pic mid text.
Finally got an error, did these three uploads then tried a 2.35mb file and got this when it refreshed the page.
See
But I want this pic here
So really the photo upload issue is a memory limit or something somewhere which can easily be fixed and you can work with the tools at hand.

You can also put the pics wherever you want...Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1966080 bytes) in /home/bnet/public_html/forum/includes/utf/data/confusables.php on line 1

Are you directing this to me Ryan? You don't have to be a punk about it.
I am no longer a moderator on this forum. But if some of you want to join this group and stroke yourselves for satisfaction then be my guest. I have an opinion and as I have in the past I will state it any make my case.
Most people do a satisfactory job placing advertisements on the beretta.net classifieds. From my experience some people are very simple people.

Re: For Sale Rules Not approved.
Really?? Let's go hypothetical for a minute. What if the Mods put into place that only "stock" cars are allowed on the site. Then your car wouldn't be allowed. But as you say you will go by what ever rule is put in place so if it was real, it was nice knowing you.Styluss wrote:My humble opinion??

I am not one to just blindly follow rules. They need to make sense. In the ever evolving world of internet I feel putting pictures of the actual item for sale is more important now then it was in the past. More and more online junk yards are posting pictures. If not of the actual part at least the car it came from. And I feel that if a person now a days is willing to buy a car or a part off the internet without a picture then they are foolish.
Now Erich on the other hand has been on this site selling parts for over a decade so I personally have not issue taking his word on condition of parts as I have in the past. And I have been buying parts off of him for years. But I will not buy or even consider buy ANYTHING from anyone else without a picture.

THIS, was uncalled for.SummitBalt08 wrote:All this bickering and you wonder why members don't visit the site as often as they would otherwise.. hey everybody its the new Bstuff!!!! Lol jk jk..
This is not so much bickering as it is the community coming to a decision on how we should move forward with that which is a large portion of our community, the buying and selling of parts.
SGR, Rodville; allow me to expand on my prior post as well as apologize for it. I may be a little hot under the collar when it comes to rules as I just got done with a huge discussion concerning the rules for my local Rally Cross group. But really? You can bitch and cuss all day long with your strong opinions and I put up one sentence and get chastised?
Ahem, from what I am reading it seems that rules were put in place. Then, so many people disagreed with the rules that it led to this "discussion" thread. Discussion has been quoted as it seems that the discussion has derailed and the thread has turned into a my idea is better than yours conversation, yet with no supporting information as to why it may be better. Can we wrangle this bad bay back up into a conversation??
Erich, not directed at you, but the board as a whole. We need to learn that instead of bitching about everything instead we should state a complaint, and then a proposed solution. If you cannot propose a solution, you are simply adding to the supposed problem by merely complaining.
Now, for my actual $.02 on the photo discussion. I can see the merits of both side's arguments. My thoughts are that a photo should not be mandatory. If a seller wants to provide a photo and therefore increase the chances of a sale, awesome. If a seller wants to put up an add without a photo, and then deal with the numerous requests for a photo, so be it. If a buyer is interested enough in the item for sale, they will ask for a photo, plain and simple. Then of course, there are the numerous items that simply do not require a photo. And as said before, anyone selling a car is a fool not to post a photo.
As for everything else proposed/mentioned, I must admit I am at work and have not read through it.
And Rodville, really? That's a stretch to assume that the Mods of this board, who have been community members for a long time now, would:
1. Post such a ridiculous rule in the first place and
2. Not listen to the board (as has happened here) if a rule was found by the majority of the community to need adjustment.

Thank you for specifically pointing to my situation in a positive case.

But there is more to it. As a buyer I have bought many parts off the internet for the 1995 DGGM, the 1990 GTZ, and the 1992 GTZ off the internet. Many NOS parts and mostly without photo's. Yes photo's would be nice...but they were not necessary to get the deal done.
I would recommend any seller to put photo's up. I would not tell them not to.
Since we are thoroughly on this subject. Has there ever been a deal here someone specially got a raw deal because of a lack of photo. In general or specific to this Beretta.net classifieds.
Re: For Sale Rules Not approved.
off the photo topic:
what is the consensus on the ebay, craigslist, fiji, and other listing links in the for sale section. Do we wish to have the classifieds set up for the individual that is selling the item. If a seller is selling an item on another forum can this person link to their other listing, ebay...etc.
Perhaps another category for outside links above.

Last time I checked Will's name is on the whois, and he has delegated authority to Jon. If you don't like Will's sand box (and really, there's already too much sand in this box) go find another sand box.
Props to Jon for even opening this to discussion. I would've locked this topic up like a nun in a church and lol'd my way through deleting every single additional complaint about it.
