new ride!

Post by Wanako »

I bought a brand new car!!! WOOT! My very first one!

My wife and I went out and traded in her 2007 Toyota Yaris hatchback, which I kinda didn't like at first (too cute) but grew to love it so much that it actually hurt to let it go, and bought a 2012 Nissan Versa Hatchback in Fresh Powder (white). We were in need of a hatchback that was still relatively the same size as the Yaris, somewhat similar fuel mileage, but had the extra 2 doors and more cargo space. I plan to have a family in the near future so we decided on this one. It came with only an Automatic trans, power everything, AC, and other little things, which I'm not complaining because it's MUCH more comfort than I ever had in the Beretta. Best part, it's Japanese = aftermarket support! VICTORY!

:burn:

I'll be posting some pics later on tonight. I'll have to brush the dust off my 30D.

Funny thing actually, was back in 2005 when Nissan showed off this car I was so looking forward to it. It could've been a GTI eater. I had high expectations of it and when I saw that they gave us the Versa instead, I felt betrayed. I've had a bad view of the Versa since but recently, I've actually started to warm up to it and now, in the final year of the current design, I got it. I really like it now. Weird how that worked out.

Here are the pics that were promised, I actually just finished taking them about an hour ago. I'm not used to taking pictures at night so they may not be the best and I was practicing some lighting techniques with my flash. All of them are 30 second exposures at f/8 at 200 ISO on a tripod with a 10-22mm Ultra Wide Angle Lens, for those who know what I'm talking about.

Of course it would not be typical Wanako style if it weren't "in your face!!" 8)

Yep. Needs something, missing some meanness. I liked the shot that SGR put up before, that looked meaner for some reason. LOL

Nice though man, its cool to buy a new car. I should know! :P

duuuurrr! Of course it doesn't. It wasn't mean to be. It's going a little towards the "cute" side but, I'm okay with that.

The shot SGR put up was the Nissan Sport Concept that showed up in 2005. I used to drool over this. This is a prime example of a manufacturer severely watering down a product from concept to production. That's why I was so pissed when the Versa came out looking how it does in 2007. Like I said, I eventually warmed up to it.

exactly what I'll be doing. I'll be getting some Tanabe NF210 springs and Tokico Blue Shocks. That'll lower down quite a bit. Wheels, I'm not sure about yet, but the car comes with 15 inch steelies wraped by some 185/65's. My final dimensions for tires will be 205/55's on a 16 inch wheel. The wheel well can take up to 18's comfortably, from what I've read but for me that's too much. I want to keep the wheel a decent size so I can put on some nice fat tires. Yes, 205's are fat for this car, leave me alone.

Body wise, I might be putting a little spoiler on the hatch and MAYBE a STILLEN lip kit all around. I'm years past the whole "body kit" fad. I won't do it unless it's a stock-ish looking kit and it's tasteful.

BUT! First thing's first. TINTZ!

oh, no it just looks wierd in the pics. The parking spots you see under the building are for the apartment complex I live at. The "garages" that you see in the posed shots are just rental storage facilities.

I figured the parking garage was for the tenants, the garage doors had me wondering, with them not being wide enough and all, and the actual doors being so close together.
