VIN number 1G1LV34T9LY178766 built 2/15/1990.

This was the ninth yellow convertible built, and it has a black top, 3.1L automatic and analog gauges.

At one time students were allowed to work on this car in the classroom, but they haven't been allowed to work on it for many years.

The most interesting thing about this car is that some of the added supports weren't painted body color. It's like it was rushed though and left unfinished, or that some of the supports were an afterthought.

Geoff, another interesting thing to note is that the pace cars had amber lenses in the front bumper lights, while all others had the standard clear lenses.

More pictures are always appreciated. This car has a convertible-specific suspension, and I really don't know what the changes were. *hint*

I have a problem....
 So who bet against me? fess up! Money is owed to me.

So you know about the video surveillance I have on this car?

I did send e-mails to a few schools that have or had convertibles a few years ago to see what they could tell me. At that time I learned that one college had scrapped theirs, one had donated theirs to another school (didn't have a record of where), and Sinclair was able to give me a little information about the terms under which GM gave them this car.
Dude, with your skills I think we could get all info on BMW's secret M8 prototype. I think I saw some pics of it once somewhere. I had to change my pants afterwards.

The M8 is really pretty common knowledge at this point. Add some side vents and increase the power output of the V12, and you have an M8. The photos were recently released during the "doors-wide-open" tour, and most questions were answered... a 550hp S70 is about all you need. I'm personally more interested in the 5 series convertible.

Where the hell is the masturbation emoticon!?

Kyle, you're awesome!

I'm not too surprised they used it as a student car, they have a base model they use for a student car instead, it's pretty rough though. They also have a Mercury Capri XR-2... never seen one of those in person...

For those that haven't seen the video:

And yes, GM's was sold at Barrett-Jackson. The owner is an acquaintance of my Fiero friend who collects rare Fieros. Haven't been able to get in touch with him via my friend yet though.
