Re: My Lowered 96 Chevy Beretta!
The only thing I don't agree with is using the resume button on the cruise to get up to speed. The cruise punches the gas too much so to say. If you hit resume at 25 and let it speed up to 55, it will definitely punch the gas lol. Admit it, every time you hit the resume button it jumps the rpms kind of hard, and anytime the rpms jump for no reason at all that's wasting gas.
Just accelerate steady and let it shift at the lowest rpms possible. Then set the cruise at speed.

Re: My Lowered 96 Chevy Beretta!
Actually I don't have that issue, unless I'm on a hill. It resumes pretty smoothly. Even both my vans have always been pretty even. And resume on my Z keeps the RPM under 3k unless I try to resume up a hill or something. But each car is different, so it may not be as smooth on another vehicle. The base's cruise does not work at the moment, and I hate pedaling it. Its hard to keep a steady speed with it for some reason, so that also may be contributing to me getting less MPG with it. (I keep kicking it out of O/D every time I start accelerating down a hill)

Maybe its the stock 3100 that might be smoother using the resume. In the 3400 Z everytime I hit the resume it accelerates way too fast to try to save gas. The Cobalt jumps the gas even worse when using resume, but it has aftermarket cruise so that don't count lol.

Probably the single, hardest thing to do while trying to save gas, is letting that POS car with youngsters pass you and not want to go and blow their doors off in return. hahah
Or being on the interstate at the limit while cars pass you on BOTH sides. I deal with that a lot on trips near Detroit, Chicago, Cinci. Doesn't bother me anymore, I laugh as I watch people try to find holes to run 80 in. Or we all pass a cop, and suddenly everyone is driving my speed for a mile. Cracks me up. I typically always run in one lane from the left most lane, so the high rollers can fly by on my left, and the people getting on and off exits are not in my way. This only really works on highways with 3 or more lanes though.
But its hard to not want to speed up and keep up with the crowd. Problem is, I usually end up leading a pack when I do that. Not good.

Just tailgate less than 3 feet behind a semi. Gas problems solved.

Re: My Lowered 96 Chevy Beretta!

Has anyone else put this grille on a base? I figured it was bolt on, but looks like I'll be doing some trimming.
Re: My Lowered 96 Chevy Beretta!
Problem is, the base bumper has a lip on top of it (that part that goes from under the headlight down that little dip then under the grill), where the mesh grill meets it. The Z04 bumper does not have that lip. So you will have to trim the lip off of the base bumper in order for the Z04 style grill to fit better. Or trim off the bottom section of the Z04 grill so it doesn't hit the bumper lip. Either way.
Now you just need to paint that red! lol

And cut a hole in it so some air gets in there.

Naw, it will still get air from underneath. Or enough anyway.

Yeah...Berettas are bottom breathers. No need for an open grille.

So, does anyone think it'll look better without the Chevy emblem? Can't really put it back after I take it out.

Yeah.... I drive 55 to save gas (in a 65) to work... and when I see some kid in a honda with 6 different colored panels and a body kit with a giant muffler speed past me... I just want to kick it up, it's extremely difficult sometimes to not, depending on what kind of day i'm having lol!DTMAce wrote:Probably the single, hardest thing to do while trying to save gas, is letting that POS car with youngsters pass you and not want to go and blow their doors off in return. hahah

Dang... It's super slow around here...
Re: My Lowered 96 Chevy Beretta!
You know what would set that look off? Put some sort of mesh in.
