belt tensioner assembly moving a little

belt tensioner assembly moving a little

ive noticed this morning that my tensioner pulley was moving just a tad... is this normal to have a little play in it or no???

at idle it's fairly normal to move a little bit. if it's moving a lot it probably needs to be replaced.

Ok cause its brand new and yea I just happened to notice it while it was idling, ill take it out of gear and see if anything changes..thanks!

Yeah it should have a little play, maybe at most it might move up to half an inch. With the engine off, try pushing on the belt where it goes from your alternator to the power steering, see how much you can deflect it. It should be fairly stiff and take plenty of force to move it. Proper tightness, most people can move it about an inch or so, if its loose it will be easier to move it up and down. Loose means problem with the tensioner.

Yes they belt is firmly tight and only moves very little when I push on it between the alt and p/s box...I guess its just me being over cautious.but again thank you.
