i have a 91' 3.1 5-speed
my friend said he can swap the 3.1 for a 3400 for free for me and he knows what he is doing - i just want to confirm everything
what parts do i save from the 3.1 and is there any other custom things or anything else im gonna need to buy to do this swap?
ive looked at 3400swap.com but i only saw instructions for the 3100 ---> 3400
sorry if this is a repeat but i cant find anything on it and hes going to be doing it soon
trying to find out everything i need to know real quick before he does this - and also so i know what to have so he has it available while swapping
thanks.

Well it's not exactly as easy as the 3100-3400 swap because those two engine are pretty much the same just different sizes. The 3.1MPFI is a lot different from the 3400 so you'll need to do a lot more stuff. I think you need custom motor mounts and then you need other stuff. Might as well put a 3800 in if your going to have all this work done.

use your 3.1 mounts/ accessories/ brackets, you will need a custom front engine mount, 3100 coolant pipes from a 94-95, Throttle cable from a 95 Beretta 3100. and 3100 beretta throttle body linkage.

so is that pretty much everything i will need because i have limited money and dont know what to do - this motor is old and it needs a bad tune up - and the kid who was gonna put it in leaves for school in a month - so if im gonna do this swap i need to get the engine in a month or less time
i have money to get the engine but then ill only have like 2 hundred left for other parts i might need - does anyone think i can do this with the money - if worse comes to worse i can probably squeez a few dollars out of my parents to help

Financially you are cutting it pretty close.
You are going to need all sorts of little stuff.
Oil, filter, a belt, there are a couple of sensor issues, the parts Steph outlined, and you can always count on at least $100 for things you would never think of.
Might be a good time to replace the clutch.
But good luck.
You will be very happy when it's done.

Fuel line adaptation. Try some '96 3100 fuel injectors.
Don't forget to put a new lower intake vallie gasket ÂÂÂ
I say your looking at a minumum of $250 more for parts.

Good luck with the mount, you either make it yourself, put on a 3x00 style or pay an arm and a leg from jbodyperformance.com.

its not fun, all new mounts are required. there should be some info on the board somewhere, try a search. I think there are only 3 finished swaps on this board. Ones a SIII and is in progress to be turboed.
