I just put mine on jackstands and ripped out the transmission and you guys are talking about driving it for the first time this year... LOL

So yeah yesterday I pulled the whole thing apart... Found a few issues...

Melted power steering bellows for the first time... thought that was a bit odd... I guess the coating I did this year on the headers sucked ass...
4th gear clutches showing hot spots again... Not sure where this is coming from
And yes the headers need to be coated again since what I did last year was way too thin and just came off in some areas. Damnit! lol

When are you going to bite the bullet and have them coated professionally so you can stop wasting your time doing it every year?

I don't know... Every time I have them out I don't have the $250 to drop on coating or the downtime... Maybe I can scrounge up something and do them this time, but I don't want to get screwed for 3+ weeks waiting for them to come back.

I've only coated the front one twice in its life and this was the first time ever the rear was coated...

Thats the other issue... I'm going to repaint these so I have something in the car, I'm going to do the test fitting of the TOG ones at Amy's fathers shop possibly later this year since I'll have the lift to work with, maybe after Bfest if I don't have time before, but I'm not doing that work right now. SO where I may end up with these due to the power not changing I would like them to be in good condition at the same time I don't want to spend $250 to coat these and then end up not using them due to the TOG's working better... So I guess I'm going to spray them again with the cast iron coating and then leave them for now until I figure out which set of headers I'm going to use.

So really I'm testing headers not switching quite yet.

Lets see. I changed the wheels back to the AR's today. Cheaper than buying a single tire to replace the bad one.. LOL

Winter is about done anyway.

I re-connected the battery after charging it and disconnecting it in an effort to find the source of my parasitic drain. Well, the battery was dead so now I assume it is the alternator. Even though I just installed a brand new one, it must be bad. So, today I'm off to exchange the alternator and the battery both for new ones. I might even have the time to install them both today.

I really want this thing running again... I've got a lot to do before BFest.

Hooray! I got the alternator and battery replaced at Pep Boys and re-installed. Fired right up and sounded great! Well, except for the spot where the hanger has torn off of the muffler, insert minor ricer noise. Now, as long as she starts tomorrow morning and the day after I'll know I'm back in business!

Side note: I took a step back after I completed the install yesterday and the freak out session over all of the things I need to do prior to BFest set in. I had better get at it!

Swapped her wheels back on. Washed her. Replaced the DS front wheel bearing last week. Cleaned the interior. Rewired my rear speakers since they were cutting in and out. Got rid of my plastic BMW headlights. Put in my new head unit (over the winter). Bought a dashmat (same one Geoff has) to cover the mint dash that Chad (GTZ) gave me for driving him to Michigan for his car. Cried at the rust on my rear quarter but was happy that it didn't get any bigger yet.

What I have planned for the next few weeks. Swap my new doors that I've had for two years now on and hopefully have power windows. Get the windows on the new doors tinted.

Washed the base today. It really needed it too. Actually looks a tad better. Mom asked why did I bother.... LOL

Over 6k on it now since I bought it. 290,550 and something miles. Doubt I will break 300 before fest though. :O

Lets see, I hope to get more of the lighting projects assembled this weekend. Have to get stuff ready for the Z.

Drove mine to work this morning; I think I'll be getting a couple new bulbs today since my passenger low beam has been burnt out for a couple weeks now lol.

I really need to look at doing an HID retrofit for these headlights... the ones on my Legacy are just amazing.

HID in true HID projectors would be amazing. I wish I had the money right now for a true retrofit. Brad (GODLIKE) could point you in the right direction. He did his (and Chad's) in stock housings though, I can't remember what the light output was like with the stock lenses in front of the projectors though. Chad may be able to answer that.
