hesitation/stalling/fowling out

Post by unsmart1 »

Alright so im on the verge of tryin to get this turn back on the road and its fighting me pretty good. I replaced the fuel pump on monday, its pumping at 65psi. At idle in park it runs fine, in gear itll idle and run fine. But once you start driving its hesitates/idles eractically at stops and speeds under 15mph but comes out of it, but at times, will die. Then after shut off warm and started back up it runs like its dropped a cylinder and isnt running on all 6 and shakes like hell. When completely cold starts runs no prob. FPR is new as are the injectors, has new coils, crank sensor, plugs and wires. Any ideas, i just wanna drive the damn thing. I figured new fuel pump would solve it, it only solved half the issues. Which was dieing when givin it gas, and well its starts now. Haha.

Your PSI should be 43.5 unless you've changed something... 65 is way too high and your injectors are now overflowing fuel.

hesitation maybe but if your injectors are seeing 65psi at idle they are acting as 22lb injectors when the ECU thinks they are 16lb(at 43psi, Idle pressure should be around 34psi so they should be 14lb injector flow at idle) that increased pressure can confuse it at idle and may restrict it from being able to compensate enough.

I'd start with double checking the pressure regulator you installed.

FACK! Well do think the pressure tester is messed up because the guy i borrowed it from used it on his 97 silverado, and i guess the book on that say 60ish psi and the guage said 81. Ill buy one of those too tomorrow and try again. It did this bs hesitation before the pump, injectors amd fpr were replaced. If anything it barely got better at all. Idk, itll run and drive fine until its warmed up then its just a C&NT from hell!

No wonder i stopped messing with it when i bought the dodge and the bike. Room to work, cheap n easy to fix. Lol.

Im no pro-mechanic or anything , i just learn from my own experiences... ive owned mine for 16 years and have dealt with my fair share of problems. Have you checked your EGR valve to make sure its not sticking or plugged up full of gunk

Shouldn't have to make anything work. The change didn't come until 96.
