Brakes!!!!
Brakes!!!!
Ok.. so i got my brakes done today on my 1990 beretta indy. I am just wondering if the pedal should be so loose (i guess i could call it) i drive down the driveway and i push the pedal in pretty much to the floor and it does a (nose dive) but at least it stops. is it supposed to be that way on my indy? Thanks.
Also got the girls clean and took some pics. here are just a couple.

Re: Brakes!!!!
No it should not be that way. If you push the pedal and release then push it again real fast does the pedal feel better?
Re: Brakes!!!!
no it still is loose but the car stops like it normally would its just alot easier to put the pedal to the floor. we thought it was still leaking where we repaired it but its not. there is no leak and it does not loose any fluid.
Re: Brakes!!!!
May need to bleed all the brakes. Sounds like you have air in the line.

Re: Brakes!!!!
very likely as mentioned. could be rear out of adjustment too, but since you put on a new line recently, more than likely air in the system

Re: Brakes!!!!
If the leaking line drained the master cylinder dry you should bench bleed it as well.

Re: Brakes!!!!
Alright. Thank you. Ill try it in the morning first thing ill try it to adjust them if that doesn't work than ill bleed all the lines. For adjusting then its just the driving in reverse and pump the brakes right? Just wondering if the berettas are the same way.

As long as the adjusters are working correctly... lolindygurl wrote:Alright. Thank you. Re: Brakes!!!!
i may have to bench bleed it as woody said. due to it sitting as long as it did before i got it, with no fluid in the reservoir. but im guessing i could just bleed all the brakes first to see if that helps due to the fluid probably drying up in the lines. but if all else fails on adjusting them ill do it manually. will probably post a video later, to my photobucket account. showing how hard i have to push the brake. and how she stops from the outside. also im guessing that my brake light switch is due to the water damage it had. so my brake lights dont work but everything else does. so ill be pulling that out later too. need to get it running good for work.
Re: Brakes!!!!
Here are a few videos of my indy one is just an all around. and you can see where i did a temp fix on my exhaust. (the car runs better) (my camera is crappy appearently, it has some weird noise on it)

the other is the brakes from the inside. Yes i like to wear flip flops alot. even though it was almost in the 30's this morning.

The third is how fast it stops even though the brakes are to the floor.

Re: Brakes!!!!
hahaha you're having way too much fun with the videos!
but yeah if the reservoir was empty, i'm sure it's a lot tougher to bleed the system. keep trying and see how it goes.

Re: Brakes!!!!
If there is air in the master you can bleed the lines all day and still have a shitty pedal. Removing the master cylinder and bench bleeding it in a vice is the way to fix it. Once the master is bled, then you can bleed the lines. Master first though.
