Re: Transmission question
That is the Torque converter lockup solenoid... On the 3t40's its common for that to fail in the open position when connected so it will keep the torque converter locked all the time which is almost equal to a 5 speed car and not pushing in the clutch, so yeah it will stall out.
Re: Transmission question
And the common fix was to unplug it, however that part will need replaced to fix it properly.

Re: Transmission question
Yeah you can cruise around with it unplugged indefinately but then your mileage will suffer, with the TCC you will lock up on the higway and bring the RPM's down, its kinda like having a 4th gear, it just stops the converter from slipping and makes it a more direct connection to the engine. hence why it stalls when you come to a stop.
Re: Transmission question
well the car barely even starts. it will start for two seconds then stalls. We forgot that we hooked it back up because he hates things not being hooked up. but i was thinking about it today early this morning, and i asked him if he tryed starting it with out it plugged in. also the vacuum hoses that are under the upper manifold snapped when he was trying to replace all the gaskets. noone has hoses that small so next time we take a junk yard run were getting a bunch of them this is just my own question how important is it to have the one to the cruise control? if cruise control is not even hooked up.

Re: Transmission question
If you broke the hard line most auto parts stores sell it in a roll. It will not be like stock, but you can make it work if you can't find anything at the JY. Oh and save you stock "T"s. They don't sell tri port "T"s in rubber.

Re: Transmission question
it was the one that went to the cruise control and the MAP.
